The old fire pit- thing served admirably over the last 2 years but it was time to do something more permanent and less susceptible to the elements. Also a lesson learned about managing one of these things. Replaceable things that can be swapped for permanent solutions is always a project worth doing

If you boat around Round Lake, and you totally should, you'll see a lot of pretty impressive places. Most of these have done some pretty extensive landscaping in the front yard as well, which looks great but comes at the cost of the trees and foliage that naturally grow by the water. It also comes at the cost of your privacy, definitely not a problem at this place. The man who designed and built this wonderful place wanted it that way and appreciated the understated look it created from the water. This is such a meaningful part of the experience of staying here, you feel like you have the area all to yourself. And when you stand on the deck and look out, you lose none of the views that people come for. Come stay, bring a boat or rent our own and you'll be glad you did.

This is Ernie. Our family rescued him over the winter and this is his FIRST-EVER boat ride, with some beef and cheese snackies, no less. The pontoon is now in the water and running great, available for rent to all our guests at The House on Round. With a couple bars/restaurants on beautiful Round Lake, no better way to enjoy lake life in style than cruising around the water on this fine vessel. 🦮

Part of what makes The Round Lake Retreat so unique is the connectedness to nature you feel while there and the trophies that adorn the walls taken right from the Hayward area. Our father, who designed and built the home, was an avid sportsman and loved being in Hayward more than anywhere else in the world. These are some of his collections and finds that you can see while staying there that are a great reminder of the wildlife that surrounds you and the possibilities for any aspiring sportsman that wants to come stay. Many a season-opener was launched from this house, and after a long day in the woods or out on the lake, there's simply no better environment to come back to. Plan your trip with friends today!
