These beautiful woodland birds are a special part of the Northwoods, and their unmistakable drumming is something you won’t soon forget.
In Ojibwe, the Ruffed Grouse is called Bine. ❤️

This week’s Northwoods visitor is a beautiful Barred Owl! There’s something magical about seeing one of these amazing birds perched quietly among the trees. Their distinctive call and beautiful markings make them a wonderful part of the Northwoods. 🌲✨

In Ojibwe, the barred owl is known as Gookooko'oo. 🦉
