Snowmobile Etiquette to it’s finest!

While grooming tonight 3 sleds came by me. I stopped them and asked them to take it easy on the trail, as I often do, so that it had time to set up after grooming. Most guys give you a thumbs as they take off racing around the corner behind you. The rider tonight told me he was a groomer operator and they had been going easy on the freshly groomed trail. The picture is the track that was left by three sleds. It was like that for miles. Thank you gentlemen for being so respectful. The riders tomorrow will appreciate it!

Trails continue to be GOOD in the northern third! Get out and enjoy them. Warmer temps are forecast for this upcoming weekend. 40 is better than 50, but it sure won’t help… 🥵❄️

December and January have allowed some great opportunities. It’s only mid February. Wisconsin deserves a huge dumping! Hoping it’s on its way!! What a unique Wisconsin snowmobiling season so far… 🤞❄️

Lots of events coming up this weekend. Find one and make the best of what we have… 😊❄️

Snowmobile enthusiasts can expect to see an increase in DNR warden presence on trails and frozen waterways for the upcoming Sled Safe education/enforcement weekends Jan. 30-Feb. 1 and Feb. 6-8, 2026.

Wardens will share snowmobile safety tips with riders and watch for operators who may be impaired or causing safety problems for themselves and others.

Here are some ways you can help keep Wisconsin's snowmobile trails safe:

– Ride sober. If you choose to consume alcohol, wait until you’ve reached your final destination or returned home safely.
– Ride right. This means staying on the right-hand side of the trail, but it also means promoting a positive image for snowmobilers by being responsible on the trails.
– Ride at a speed that suits your abilities.

Also, remember that ice is never completely safe under any conditions. The DNR does not monitor ice conditions, but they are monitored locally. Local fishing clubs, outfitters and bait shops are the best sources for local current ice conditions.

UPDATE: Well done Facebook friends, you did it…you helped get these jackets back to their homes! 🙏🏼

Hey Friends…

Did you happen to be at Shady Nook Resort last night and wake up with the wrong jacket? 🤔

We know it happens by accident sometimes. So, if you did wake up with a new-to-you jacket - please contact Shady Nook or Pat's Landing Resort. Our guest would love to swap back your jacket for hers. 😍

The jacket missing is a Black & Grey Klim, size large. In the inside pocket you’ll find a youth snowmobile registration card for Wyatt H.

Please share and help these two coats find their way home! 👊
