What an amazing story to be part of. Ryan is with a wildlife rehab from Shreveport, LA. He & his Mom have rehabbed 2 Chimney Swifts and it was time to release. Problem, this hot weather has sent colonies away from all his normal contacts. He needed to find a colony still around to take these youngsters in. After numerous searches he found Sunflower Hideaway mentioning Chimney Swifts Towers on VRBO! I knew we had Swifts on Monday, but not sure if still here. He made the 2 hour trip. I saw a flock of 10 when he was 5 minutes away. Saw another flock fly over around 6:30 but didn’t stick around. By 7PM he felt he needed to let them fly so they could get some flight in before dark. With the next few that flew over, he opened up the cage. They were hesitant to leave but of course when they fly they are so fast! We know a few Swifts were in the chimney. When one of his flew, it went toward the tower and flew around it. Several swifts went down after he left. Praying a flock has taken them in and will take them under their wing for the long flight to South America. Ryan said his Mom sprinkled Holy Water on them before he left for our place. I said a prayer for them. So hope they are safe in our tower for the night. They are in God’s hands now. Great experience.

This would be Bill … but not Bandit, maybe sweet Martin.

A fisherman thought he had just lost the best catch of his day, until a dock camera revealed an unexpected reason.

On May 20, a man spent hours fishing from a dock, enjoying one of his most successful outings in weeks. One after another, he reeled in fish and placed each one into a bucket beside him. By the afternoon, the bucket was nearly full.

Exhausted from spending so much time in the sun, he leaned back in his chair for a short rest, leaving his fishing line in the water in case he got another bite.

When he woke up a little later, he looked down at the bucket and froze.

Every single fish was gone.

Confused, he searched around the dock, convinced someone must have taken them while he was asleep. He knew he had caught plenty of fish, and he clearly remembered putting every one of them into the bucket.

Then he checked the dock camera.

The footage showed his dog quietly walking over to the bucket, picking up one fish at a time, and gently dropping each one back into the water, where a dolphin had been waiting beside the dock.

The dog wasn't stealing the catch. He appeared to be sharing it.

The fisherman later said he couldn't stay upset after seeing what had happened. He laughed because his dog has always shown the same kind of behavior at home. Whenever the family's baby cries, the dog often tries to carry over pieces of his own kibble, almost as if he's trying to help.

Whether the dog truly understood what he was doing or was simply following his instincts, the moment left the fisherman with a story he'll never forget.

Sometimes the biggest surprise isn't the one that gets away. It's discovering just how kind our animals can be in ways we never expected

My first and my last! Posted couple weeks ago, my first 2 sets of guest that booked and stayed at Sunflower Hideaway have become my last two guest before we put our place on the market. I praise God for the friendships and memories made. The first time Mardi & Larry were here he said he was driving a corvette. I was nervous about guest finding us in the back of the neighborhood. As I anxiously awaited my first guest ever… a neighbor said he had seen a vet in the neighborhood about 30 minutes earlier. I was scared they might have changed their mind with our eclectic subdivision! I messaged Larry to see if he was lost or changed his mind. Nope, had a later start, not here yet. Go figure, two corvettes in our neighborhood on the same day! lol. During their first stay they assured me guest would find the beauty in the peace & quiet our little “hideaway” offered. They gave me this little guy as a parting gift this time! Love it, love them, such a beautiful loving couple. Have loved all my guest over the past 4 years. To God be the glory.

When Sunflower Hideaway opened, one couple booked first, another stayed first. Both couples were so complimentary and friendly, put my BnB fears to rest and started me out on a very rewarding journey of hosting. Out of the blue, one of these couples requested to come back this past weekend. To top it off, got a message the other night, the other wants to book in a couple of weekends! Can’t make this stuff up! My Alpha & Omegas! And look what Gracie & Jason brought me! I will cherish along with the memories and friendship.
