My first and my last! Posted couple weeks ago, my first 2 sets of guest that booked and stayed at Sunflower Hideaway have become my last two guest before we put our place on the market. I praise God for the friendships and memories made. The first time Mardi & Larry were here he said he was driving a corvette. I was nervous about guest finding us in the back of the neighborhood. As I anxiously awaited my first guest ever… a neighbor said he had seen a vet in the neighborhood about 30 minutes earlier. I was scared they might have changed their mind with our eclectic subdivision! I messaged Larry to see if he was lost or changed his mind. Nope, had a later start, not here yet. Go figure, two corvettes in our neighborhood on the same day! lol. During their first stay they assured me guest would find the beauty in the peace & quiet our little “hideaway” offered. They gave me this little guy as a parting gift this time! Love it, love them, such a beautiful loving couple. Have loved all my guest over the past 4 years. To God be the glory.

When Sunflower Hideaway opened, one couple booked first, another stayed first. Both couples were so complimentary and friendly, put my BnB fears to rest and started me out on a very rewarding journey of hosting. Out of the blue, one of these couples requested to come back this past weekend. To top it off, got a message the other night, the other wants to book in a couple of weekends! Can’t make this stuff up! My Alpha & Omegas! And look what Gracie & Jason brought me! I will cherish along with the memories and friendship.

My condolences go out to my guest that should be arriving tomorrow. She booked a year ago, her husband died on Monday. 🌻🥀 I bet was a Christian, she said “God had other plans, and he went peacefully.”
Prayers going up for the family and their friends.

While shaking out the bathroom sunflower rug, the first hummer of the season came swooping in wanting these bright flowers! Had to get the real feeder up in a hurry.

Here’s some tag data for the “them big fish are going to die soon anyway” crowd…. Yall probably won’t like this, but we do.

Crappie Forever tag 907 made her FOURTH appearance today.

Tj Shands tagged her 2/25/24 at 3.02

Mann caught her at a Magnolia tournament on 3/8/25 and won big fish (I think) at 3.43

Trent Goss caught her a month later about 7 miles from where she was released after the tournament and she was a 3.02 again

Ross caught her today at the Crappiemasters tournament at 3.79

If y’all want to kill them, just say that, but the data doesn’t track with “they are about to die anyway” just because they are big.

Have a beautiful couple staying this weekend to celebrate their birthdays. I wanted to surprise them with a birthday treat. Looked at numerous recipes. Was going to go with carrot cake roll, but hubby ate most of our carrots-not complaining! Decided on these. Jaylen came out after seeing and exclaimed “how did you know? Pineapple upside down cake is my favorite”! Love when it works out like this! Have to give the glory to God for it all falling into place.

Eagles have a very distinct sound. We have a pair flying around Sunflower Hideaway for a while now. Last 2 mornings seen the pair. Today had a 3rd,no white, so presume it is their youngster was seen. Always so cool to see. Phone camera just can’t do them justice.

It isn’t everyday, but does happen sometimes. This beautiful guy was in one of our trees this morning! Come enjoy some time at Sunflower Hideaway. Can’t promise Mr Eagle but if he isn’t around the little guys will be eating from the feeders.

Sunflower Hideaway and Toledo Bend does’t always have to be about fishing. Sometimes it can just be a place of peace and quiet and reflection. Thank you so much to my last guest, Cheri Robinson for sharing her photo!
