It is with a very heavy heart that I must write this post. I guess it is something only the lucky ones get to do but it still hurts. On August 16 2026 a very dear friend (who is more like family pass away) Mr. David Foster has gone to be with the lord for ever no more suffering for this fine man. I was blessed to meet David some 16 years ago and we became like family. His mentoring and support has truly made me what I am today. Mr. Dave was a huge part in the success of The Byrd's Nest RV Park. Mr. Dave helped me in ways no words can express and his wealth of knowledge was amazing. Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him knows he had a passion for everything outdoors and especially fishing. I ask that you keep his family in your prayers during this difficult time. As much as it hurts to know he is gone it is with some pleasure that I know he was ready and was tired of the suffering. A man with that much kindness in his heart is for sure on the other side of those pearly gates.

🎉 Get Ready for First Friday – May 1st! 🎉

We're back downtown Hemphill for another First Friday, and honestly, we can't wait to see everyone again. There's nothing quite like a Friday night on the square with good people, good music, and good vibes.

We're especially pumped to have our local vendors back on the courthouse lawn for the second time. Watching the community come together and support each other's small businesses and creative work is what this is all about.

Here's what's happening:
🎶 Live saxophone from Darwin Young at Pineywoods Vineyard (4-8 PM)
🎤 Gospel music at The Feed Store Cafe (6-8 PM)
🍔 Smash and Pass Burgers Food Truck (11 AM - 8 PM)
🛍️ Local vendors with homemade goods on the square
💨 Ci**rs on the balcony with Canvas & Cedar (3-6 PM)
👟 Helping Hands Pop-up Sales (5-7 PM)
✨ Live music, handmade gifts, and so much more
🤠 Line dancing & Two-step upstairs in the Pineywoods Vineyard Ballroom (7:30 - 10pm)

If you need power, bring your own batteries or generator. Rain in the forecast? Grab a canopy or cover to stay comfortable. And as always, let's leave the space as we found it so we can keep doing this together.
