Thank you to the Missouri Humanities Council!!
The Missouri Humanities Council (MHC) has awarded a grant of $2,500 to the Hermann Arts Council in support of the 72nd Hermann Maifest Celebration on Saturday, May 18, 2024. The MHC is the only statewide agency in Missouri devoted exclusively to humanities education for citizens of all ages. It has served as a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities since 1971.
Hermann’s annual celebration of spring is a beloved tradition—one of Missouri’s oldest German festivals. Highlights include German dancers, the Volksplatz marketplace, beer gardens, German music and food, activities for children, and craft demonstrations. The Volksplatz Marketplace will be held on Schiller and Third streets from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024. The street will highlight artists and craftspeople, German dancing, live music, and activities including dancing, face painting, live animals, and the Bubble Bus.
Festivities end Sunday afternoon with the Maifest parade.
