If you have been around Cub Scouts ranges here at camp you will probably remember Alfred Burford. He work tirelessly to create safe opportunities for Scouts to be introduced to shooting sports. I don’t know anyone that knew the manual better than Alfred. He will definitely be missed here at camp.

Arrangements are as follows:

The funeral is May 15 at 11:00 at Christ Missionary Baptist, 480 S. Parkway East.

His daughter has asked Scouts to attend in uniform.

Lots of things done around camp and on the Chief’s Lodge. Thank you everyone for all the hard work.

Camp Currier was spared the ice that hit the areas around us. We had no tree damage. We did get 4-6 inches of snow/sleet. All the roads are frozen solid and Camp will have to be closed this weekend, January 30-Feb 1, for safety concerns. Thank you to all those that reached out checking on us during this weather event.

Thank you to Melissa Burnette, Chris Johnson and Danny Van Pelt. They all came to help work on the Chief’s Lodge in this wet cold weather even though today’s work was outside. We made great progress.

It was an honor to host the SCA Kingdom of Gleann Abhann for their 50th Anniversary Celebration. There was period garb, pageantry, archery, knife throwing, armored combat and a feast followed by a dance. It was a great family event for them.

Thank you to all the volunteers that made this weekend happen. The Bitemark Camporee was in full swing with a large group of Scouts. Adventure Quest was a hit with the Cubs. It was a very relaxed event with lots of fun. A very energetic afternoon campfire. The cubs seemed to really enjoy the Chicken Dance Polka. The cub RATA group ran a very busy set of ranges. The climbing group had a very long sunny day as well with the climbing tower. If it weren’t for all of our outstanding volunteers, these events wouldn’t happen. The fact that all of you, many with kids long out of Scouting, still give your valuable time to these events, is greatly appreciated. A personal thank you to Steve Sandy because I, Ranger Marc, had my hands full all day and don’t think I could have made it without your help.
