One of the most stunning mountain lakes in the South is Lake Chatuge, resting along the North Carolina–Georgia border and surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. Built in 1942 by the TVA, its giant earthen dam...once the tallest of its kind...still holds back the clear Hiwassee River waters. With 132 miles of shoreline, it’s perfect for boating, paddling into hidden coves, or fishing for bass and trout. You can stroll across the dam, hike lakeside trails, swim at the sandy beach in Hiawassee, or drive up Bell Mountain for sweeping views of the lake and mountains all around.

While you are visiting, stay at the nicest place around with easy access to everything. We even have lake view tiny homes that can sleep up to 6+.
