Colonial Pines Inn has been sold and is not currently operating as an Inn. To all of our past guests, we hardly know what to say after 36 seasons of being your innkeepers. You were our way of life, our entertainment, our source of wisdom on many topics, our livelihood, and our friends. You were always on our minds, and we considered you before every decision made. Now we're learning to live without you. We don't miss the stress of maintenance, gathering supplies, cracking countless eggs, bookkeeping, long hours, and keeping up with changes in the industry, but we do miss your smiling faces and words of encouragement that kept us going even when we thought we couldn't. We miss getting to know you better at breakfast and during fireside chats, plus we miss the challenge of trying to always make you happy and keep you coming back. Yesterday's rare and gorgeous ice formations at Bridal Veil Falls and along the Gorge Road (Highway 64 to Franklin). Yes, it's been very cold in Highlands but that Carolina Blue sky and sunshine warmed us up. Spring is on the way!

12" of beautiful December snow helped us end the 2018 Season at the Inn, but Miss Rebecca's Cottage is open year-round with special reduced winter rates. Located in town on Main Street (next to Sunset Rock Trail) with a stone fireplace and full kitchen, you can snuggle near your cozy fireside, bring in meals from Mountain Fresh Grocery or get out and walk to ice-skating, movies, music at The Ugly Dog or Hummingbird Lounge, a heated/covered year-round swimming pool, and of course, Highlands' great shopping & dining. The Inn will be open for B&B guests starting in April and it's never too early to plan ahead for the 2019 Season. Events at Highlands Playhouse, the Chamber Music Festival, Highlands Food & Wine Festival, and several Art & Craft Shows are drawing large crowds, so there is always something to do if you get tired of sitting on our porch.

Lots of good news this year: half a block from the Inn, the Performing Arts Center is expanding with state of the art facilities; bear-proof trash cans are being installed on Main Street; Verizon has completed their new cell tower (yay!); and just down the street, the old Mountain Brook Shopping Center is being renovated. Highlands looks better than ever and in town is the place to be!
