UPDATE: The Lottery application period is now closed.

Today’s the day! The ticket lottery to attend the patriotic festivities and fireworks display at Mount Rushmore National Memorial on July 3, 2026, is officially OPEN. But hurry, it closes April 12!

Tickets are required to join the celebration and will be distributed through an online lottery. Each applicant may request up to four tickets and choice of parking at Mount Rushmore or shuttle service from Rapid City. Lottery results will be shared on April 14.

Protection of the Black Hills and Mount Rushmore National Memorial remains central to event planning for July 3. The National Park Service is coordinating closely with partner agencies to support a safe and memorable celebration for all attendees while continuing its commitment to caring for the landscape and cultural resources of the Memorial.

The first buffalo calf of the season has arrived at Custer State Park.

The calves are a big attraction at the park each year. and there will be many more to come this spring.

The National Park Service said the event marks the first fireworks display at the memorial since 2021. Officials noted the show reflects a national celebration of America’s founding and aligns with the Trump administration’s goal of hosting “a grand celebration worthy of the momentous occasion of the 250th anniversary of American Independence.”

We were honored to have this opportunity to share our Badger Hole cabin with you all. Thank you Custer County Historical Society and Friends.

A heartfelt thank you to Linda Flounders for the wonderful tour and rich history lesson about the original Badger Hole — Badger Clark’s first cabin. This week, the Custer County Historical Society (along with friends) visited Newton Fork Ranch, where we had the opportunity to record Linda’s stories and capture video footage of the cabin and surrounding property. Stay tuned to our page for updates — we’ll be sharing the full video as soon as it’s ready.
