Happy Monday, Sugarmill Campers!

After some much-needed rest, it's time to reflect on the storms and flooding we experienced this past weekend.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who stepped up to help during a very challenging situation. To those who assisted with cleanup efforts, helped keep campers away from flooded areas, sheltered in place when asked, evacuated safely and quickly from their campsites, and helped move golf carts from rising waters to higher ground—your support did not go unnoticed.

A special thank you also goes out to those who helped fellow campers and camping neighbors clean up their yards and campsites. Seeing neighbors helping neighbors, lending a hand, sharing equipment, and working together to recover from the flooding truly showed the strength of our Sugarmill community.

We also appreciate those who checked on us throughout the weekend. Whether you offered to pick up lunch, brought us a drink, or simply asked if there was anything we needed, a phone call from friends and family your kindness meant more than you know. Those small gestures helped keep us going during some very long days.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to our local fire departments, emergency management personnel, and sheriff's department for checking on the campground.

The weather is not looking very promising over the next few days, but we will continue working throughout the week to clean up campground as conditions allow. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue these efforts.

The teamwork, patience, generosity, and willingness to help one another demonstrated what makes Sugarmill such a special place. Because of your efforts, we were able to navigate this event more safely and efficiently.

From all of us at Sugarmill, thank you for your cooperation, understanding, and hard work throughout the weekend. We appreciate each and every one of you and are grateful to have such an amazing camping family.

Good morning, Sugarmill campers.

Here is your morning update following yesterday’s flooding event.

We still have some flooding in certain areas of the campground, so please use caution when traveling throughout the park. For safety reasons, the area around the 400 section will be closed. If you are exiting the campground, please use the gravel road located by the antenna.

We also have a significant amount of debris floating around the lake from campsites affected by the high water. Last night, our staff moved many golf carts to higher ground to help prevent damage. There were a few golf carts and pontoon boats that we were unable to reach safely.

If you have a pontoon boat or watercraft at the lake, please check on it as conditions allow and the water continues to recede. Several boats have been pushed up onto docks by the high water.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue cleanup efforts. We will provide additional updates as conditions improve throughout the day.

Sugarmill Campers,
We are currently are shelter in place status. We still have a lot of flooding and roads are impassible.

Here is an update following the significant amount of rain we received earlier today. Our team will reassess the campground conditions first thing in the morning.

For everyone’s safety, the gate has been closed and no additional traffic will be allowed into the campground at this time. We want to assure everyone that the campers currently in the campground are safe.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this situation. Once conditions have been evaluated, we will post an “All Clear” status on our page and provide any additional updates that may be needed.

With more rainfall possible, please check for updates before making a trip to the campground. You may contact the office or office cell for any additional updates.

📢 Important Notice for Sugar Mill Campers

Tomorrow, we will be installing speed bumps throughout the campground. This was the only day available for the contractor to complete the work.

Please be mindful that the newly installed speed bumps cannot be driven on while they are being installed and curing. We will block off roadways as much as possible during the process.

Moonshine Loop Residents:
We will be working on the culvert pipe this area will be closed. If you need to leave in your personal vehicle between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM, please park your vehicle on the opposite side of the culvert pipe before that time please. This will allow you to access your vehicle without interruption.

Golf carts will still be permitted to access the field area throughout the installation period.

Please note that the information currently posted on our website is the correct and official schedule for all events.
