Hochatown Fire Department Quickly Moving Forward with Arrival of New Brush Truck
Hochatown, Oklahoma (May 17, 2025)– In a significant milestone for the town's commitment to enhancing public safety, the Hochatown Fire Department welcomed its first fire truck on Friday evening. The 2024 Dodge Ram 5500 quick attack brush truck arrived shortly after 9:30 PM, becoming the centerpiece of a celebratory gathering under town hall’s Friday night lights. Town officials, including Trustee Howard Haggard, Mayor Chad Sargent, Administrator Adam Vossen, and Fire Chief Cody Gilbert, were present to mark this momentous occasion at town hall.
"This is the first of the trucks and equipment that we have budgeted for the Hochatown Fire Department, making it a truly special moment for our community," stated Administrator Adam Vossen. "I extend my gratitude to our Board of Trustees for prioritizing this initiative. This development reflects our serious commitment to saving lives, enhancing professional emergency response capabilities, and ultimately lowering the ISO rating, which will benefit all property owners in Hochatown through reduced insurance costs."
The establishment of the Hochatown Fire Department is progressing rapidly, with plans for its initial location set alongside US Highway 259 at 50 White Pine Road. The new department will be professionally equipped and its members properly trained to have the capabilities to effectively tackle wildland fires and navigate the challenging terrain of the Ouachita Mountains.
The introduction of this brush truck signifies a broader commitment to community safety, with its ability to access remote areas, deploy water suppression tactics swiftly, and adapt to various firefighting scenarios.
