What to do when it’s creeping up to 100 degrees during your cabin stay? Plenty.

Mornings and evenings are still great for walking the trails, sipping coffee on the porch, and watching wildlife wander by. But during the heat of the day, we highly recommend heading to the water.

The Blackfork River runs through our property, and there are some great little spots to wade and splash around. You’re also just a short drive from Cedar Lake and Lake Wister, which both have designated swim areas and lots of room to cool off.

This time of year is perfect for floating, swimming, and just hanging out in the shade near the water. Bring your towels, pack a cooler, and make a day of it. Then come back to the cabin, rinse off, and enjoy the breeze rolling in at sunset.

At Blackfork Cabins, once the sun goes down, the real show begins. Zero streetlights. Zero traffic. Just moonlight, frog songs, and a sky so full of stars it doesn’t feel real.

Bring a blanket, turn off your flashlight, and look up. You might just feel tiny in the best possible way.
