It looks like we are getting some new residents at the Elephant Sanctuary, Hohenwald! We will have to wait until Spring of 2025, but look forward to welcoming Elephants Mikki and Punch to Hohenwald, TN!

The Louisville Zoo announced its two remaining elephants will retire and move to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee in spring 2025.

Great news! Thank you for keeping us informed Natchez Trace Parkway!

The closed section of Natchez Trace Parkway, Milepost 239.2 (near Highway 32) to Milepost 256.9 (Near Highway 6), has reopened to traffic.

Travelers should expect single-lane closures into Summer 2024. Work continues to add an additional layer of asphalt, add permanent striping, and grade the shoulder. Please "Drive safe, the park way!" and remember to watch out for people working on the road. NPS photo/J. Childs

🌲 Christmas in Hohenwald is almost here!! 🌲

We are looking forward to a joyous celebration tomorrow evening and invite all to stop by the High Forest Guesthouse to warm up with a free cup of hot cocoa or other treats provided by Meriwether Market.

The Golden Season has arrived! Maples and Hickories and Oaks, oh my! The Natchez Trace Parkway offers spectacular views and is the perfect day trip to cycle or drive.

This morning the park service reopened 10 miles of the Parkway between mileposts 326 and 336 - this includes the bridge over the Tennessee River.

One section of the project remains closed south of the river between mileposts 303 and 326. This is the section that Natchez Trace Travel has been able to create an Alternate Bicycle Detour Route for. Updated directions and maps can be viewed at:

Natchez Trace State Park

This section of the Natchez Trace is located near Tishomingo and Belmont, Mississippi. The section spans the area between the Alabama-Mississippi state line and the Mississippi Highway 371 intersection.
