I was asked this weekend what the laws regarding the orange flag, we are a little different then Missouri law. Here is what the Kansas law is.

In Kansas, a bright orange or red "skier-down" flag (at least 12 × 12 inches) must be displayed immediately whenever a towed person or their equipment is in the water. The flag should be up while waiting for a tow or being retrieved, but it must be lowered while actively towing.Key requirements under Kansas law include:The Rule of Thumb: "Skier up, flag down. Skier down, flag up".Visibility: The flag must be mounted on a handle and visible from all directions.Crew Requirements: Vessels towing skiers must either have a wide-angle rearview mirror or an observer on board who is at least 12 years old.Safety: The flag alerts passing vessels to avoid the area. For the complete text of these requirements, you can review the 2026 Kansas Statutes or the official Kansas Boating Regulations Summary.

You can read these laws and regulations online or ask a wildlife and game officer.

Wow, it's already the middle of July! This past weekend was buzzing with families enjoying everything Banner Creek has to offer. We saw kids swimming, families having picnics, friends playing frisbee, and music filling the campground. We absolutely love seeing everyone making memories together. Family and friend time is what it's all about!

As we hit the busiest part of the season, we have campers checking in and out every day. Just a reminder that check-out time is 2:00 p.m. Please make sure your campsite is completely cleared out by then so we can get it ready for the next campers.

We've had several campers staying past check-out, which leaves the next family waiting on their site. Starting now, if you're not checked out by 2:00 p.m. and haven't made arrangements with one of our employees ahead of time, a $40 late check-out fee will be charged.

Just a few other reminders while you're here:

Please keep your dogs on a leash. There are lots of families, kids, and other pets around, and we want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable time.
If the parking around your campsite is full, please use the extra parking at Cedar Point.
After you launch or load your boat, please move your truck and trailer to the designated trailer parking lot instead of leaving it on the grass by the boat ramp. It keeps the ramp open and makes things much easier for everyone trying to get on and off the water.

Thanks, everyone! We appreciate you doing your part to help keep Banner Creek a fun, clean, and welcoming place for all our campers and visitors. Have a great rest of your summer!

Wow, what a weekend. The chamber did a great job putting on the Jubilee. On our side we had a few things happening. First was our annual RV decorating contest. We had 3 judges and because it was a super cute goose displayed (my pic sadly didn’t show the whole display). We, along with Lucy picked them. They got a weekend of camping. Next was our lighted boat parade. We had a few show up. And the winner was the sail boat! They will be coming into pick up their prize of some BCR merch. Thank you! Hope to see you all again next year!

It absolutely infuriates me that we have to deal with things like this. My staff works so hard to try and provide clean shower houses and restrooms for everyone to use. Due to a bunch of things being broken last night in the Men’s restroom in Deer Run it will be closed tell we can time to figure out how to repair all the damage that was done to the restroom last night. If anyone witnesses people damaging our restrooms please say something to us so we can handle it. Now so many people don’t have a restroom on our busiest weekend of the year and I’m so sorry to the people who patron here and take such good care of this place. I will try my hardest to get stuff fixed and opened as soon as possible but thank you for your patience.

The parade is a go! You still have time, decorate your boat with lights and meet us at the cove by the boat house, between Deer Run and Cedar Point. Parade will be on before the fireworks.
