Citrus County is in for a rare cold night ❄️
And while it won’t last long, the damage can if homes and yards aren’t prepped.
This isn’t meant to cause panic, just a quick local reminder of what actually helps in freezes like this.
Inside the house:
• Keep the heat on overnight
• Let faucets drip, especially on exterior walls
• Open cabinets under sinks to let warm air circulate
Outside:
• Disconnect hoses and cover spigots
• Turn off irrigation systems
• Wrap exposed plumbing and backflow preventers
• Pool owners should keep pumps running
Don’t forget your plants!
Cover sensitive plants before sunset using sheets or frost cloth, water them earlier in the day, and bring potted plants inside if you can.
One thing most homeowners wish they knew before a pipe bursts:
Know exactly where your main water shutoff is.
Citrus County homes aren’t built for long freezes, but a little prep tonight goes a long way.
Stay warm and feel free to share this with neighbors who might not be used to weather like this.
