If you are searching for a unique venue, take a look at Bryn Mawr Mountain Retreat and Conference Center in Honesdale, PA. It is an all girl’s summer camp, which host weddings during their off season. This venue gave us a destination wedding at a reasonable price.
We had my daughter’s wedding there this past weekend. I am not one to write reviews, but I felt strongly about writing this one. I just don’t know were to start. My daughter wanted to have a wedding in a barn setting; her husband wanted it at a hotel so their guest could stay over. The Bryn Mawr gave them a combination of both.
The property was picturesque; their ceremony was held down by the lake. The cocktail hour was on the patio next to a small apple orchard and the reception was indoors. Our weekend actually started off with the rehearsal dinner on Friday evening, the food was amazing. All of our guests raved about it. This was the start of a wonderful weekend. The food for the cocktail hour and the wedding exceed our expectations and the breakfast on Sunday was as equally delicious. Everything was served fresh and hot.
The staff was friendly, professional and very accommodating. They made the weekend effortless for our guests and us. They were right by our side from the moment we arrived to the moment we departed. We did not leave with a handshake but with hugs.
When we told our family and friends that we were having our daughter’s wedding at a summer camp, no one had heard of this idea before and some were skeptical. By the end of the weekend, everyone thought this was such a great wedding and couldn’t say enough about the venue, the food and the staff. They all said they felt like they had a mini vacation. There was so much to do and it was so nice having our family and friends with us for three days. People say that weddings cost so much money and that there over in the blink of an eye, but having an event that lasted a weekend gave us the ability to enjoy each and every aspect.
We are so happy with our experience; this will be a wedding we truly remember for a lifetime. If I had to pick one word to explain this wedding and our weekend it would be “magical”.
