Lost Lake History:
In the early 1800s, the area now known as Lost Lake was used by Native Americans for huckleberry harvests. They called it E-e-kwahl-a-mat-yam-lshkt, meaning “heart of the mountains.”
Euro-American explorers first documented the lake in 1873, and the name “Lost Lake” was coined soon after. Forest Service obtained the land in 1922, making it one of Oregon’s oldest camping resorts. Today, Lost Lake Resort continues that legacy under owners Derek Deborde and Jason Taylor, offering visitors timeless beauty, peace, and adventure in the heart of the Mt. Hood National Forest.
