Hey there!

We have been made aware of some community discussion about pool operations at @ Ascent Mountain Fitness and wanted to take a moment to provide some details about pool operations to ensure our members and community continue to feel safe when using our facility.

1. The State of Idaho inspects, licenses and regulates our pool annually. They dictate to us and all pool operators what is considered acceptable levels of chlorine. While our levels do fluctuate from time to time, we tend to set our chlorination levels at the lower end of the range we are held accountable to.

2. If our chlorine levels drop below or pushes above what the state considers safe and sanitary for our members and your family, and friends.......We close the pool until proper chemical levels are reached.

3. How do those levels fluctuate? Commercial pools are rather complicated systems that require routine maintenance and can and do break down. Failures in many areas can effect chemistry.

4. We check and adjust our spa and pool chems 5 times a day. If there is an issue we are typically aware of it before it is and issue and are making adjustments to prevent closures for our members.

5. Pool contaminations (think kiddos) happen more often than we like to see. Again, we have state guidelines to follow that force us to take our chemistry way outside of what is safe to swim in and it takes time for levels to stabilize, often days.

6. Cloudy water does not mean a pool is unsafe to use. From time to time our filtration system needs maintenance and we do have periods of time when the water is not as perfect as we like it. We have a 40,000 gallon pool that takes days to fully run through the filtration system. If you notice its cloudy, we probably just fixed something and it will take a few days to clarify fully.
