The Board of Directors of the USS America Carrier Veterans Association are pleased to invite you to Reunion 2026 in Charleston, South Carolina. We have worked hard to keep this year’s reunion as affordable as possible while preserving the enjoyment and
camaraderie we’ve shared at past gatherings.

With the age of our membership and the rising costs of travel and activities in mind, we have streamlined our organized tours to two shorter excursions:
• Historical Charleston City Tour
This narrated ride‑along tour will highlight Charleston’s rich history and help you decide what you may want to explore on your own. The buses will stop at the Old City Market, giving everyone free time for lunch, shopping, and browsing.
• Patriots Point Tour & Memorial Service
This tour includes our annual memorial service and ample time to visit the USS Yorktown, USS Laffey, and the Medal of Honor
Museum. A box lunch is included.

As always, we will hold our Welcome Aboard gathering on Tuesday evening and our Banquet on Friday evening. Breakfast is included with your room and will be served buffet‑style just outside the hospitality room. Our General Meeting will take place Friday morning after breakfast, giving you the afternoon free before the banquet.

Season’s Greetings from the USS America Carrier Veterans’ Association!

A Tradition of Giving and Gratitude

Over a year has passed since our memorable reunion in Norfolk, VA, where Brookwood Elementary students lined the halls waving flags in honor of our visit. Adm. John Mazack, former CO of the USS America, joined us, reminding us of the ship’s legacy in the “Partnership in Education” with Virginia Beach schools.

It is Giving Tuesday!
This past September, at our reunion in Norfolk, VA, we had the pleasure of stopping by Brookwood Elementary School. For those of you who did not attend the reunion, you missed the children lining the hallways, saluting us while waving the stars and stripes. All of us there will tell you what a thrill it was to be greeted in such a manner. Joining us for the visit was Adm. John Mazack, who was America’s CO when the Partnership in Education was formed between the Navy and the Virginia Beach Dept. of Education. And oversaw the crewmembers from America volunteering at Brookwood. As well as trading places with the Principal of the school for a day.
Now for the benefit of new members, here is a little history of the CVA’s connection to Brookwood.
Since the CVA was formed in 1997, we have been sponsoring the Brookwood Elementary School in Virginia Beach, VA. We picked up the USS America role in the “Partnership in Education” between the ship and the school.
We started with volunteers working at the school, the same as the ship had done. We also included Halloween parties, Thanksgiving dinners, and Christmas presents. The CVA housed several families for the holidays on a few occasions.
Today the CVA continues to collaborate with the school and provide what aid we can to help ensure all the children are provided for throughout the year. Each year we reach out to you, the membership, and the former crew of the America to help.
Your dollars might pay for a school trip, a change of clothes for one of the younger kids who has had an accident at school, or gifts under the tree for some less fortunate children. Whatever the case may be, it will not go to waste.
Please give with your heart.
Happy Holidays.
