This is a Chris update:
Time has flown by:
Chris, has made it to 367 days since our lives changed forever. He was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer with mets to his liver, gallbladder, bones, Lymph nodes, and pelvis.
He started chemo within a couple of weeks.
He made it to where all of the mets cancers were resolved.
3 months later his pancreas showed no evidence of disease. Just so you know this is not a common occurrence with pancreatic cancer.
He maintained that for almost 4 months. Hi next ptscan showed that he had 3 small lesions back in his liver. The 5-FU chemo had stopped working after 18 treatments.
He was put on Gemcitabine and Paciltaxel. Those immediately dropped his white blood cell count to 300. Essentially he had no immunity. So he was also put on Neulasta, which causes terrible bone pain because it is regenerateing your white blood cells very quickly. He took a total of 4 of these chemo treatments.
His next ptscan showed that the new chemo was allowing his liver tumors to grow.
2 of these treatments took his hair and while he was taking his last 2 of these treatments his hair started growing back while getting treatments. Most may not know this but that is very rare.
His oncologist set us up an appointment with a Trial Doctor. Dr. Grierson at Siteman.
He is fantastic!
Chris has to be off of all chemo for 4 weeks before he can start his new treatment. He has to get an Echo Card before he can start the new treatment.
It has almost felt like we have had our lives back. He looks and feels great, except that he has picked up a summer cold on his 1 year cancerversary.
We know that he is the exception to the rule.
That is our blessing
He is going to start the new miracle drug Daraxonrasib on or around the 10th of September.
Meanwhile we are going to go sit in a creek this week and enjoy this time.
We couldn't be happier.
