UNITED AIRLINES CUTS 100 FLIGHTS DAILY AT CHICAGO O’HARE

Just in time for the summer travel crush, United Airlines is cutting more than 100 flights per day at Chicago’s always-busy O’Hare International Airport to comply with an order from the Federal Aviation Administration. Bizarrely, the cuts have been mandated to prevent widespread delays, according to the FAA, which came up with its remedy following a “series of meetings‚” according to a statement from Donald Trump’s Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. It wasn’t immediately clear how cutting flights would reduce delays. O’Hare is the busiest airport in America by flight volume, with more than 857,000 takeoffs and landings each day. Omar Idris, United’s Vice President for O’Hare, assured airline personnel in a letter that no staff cuts are planned. The airline will reduce its flights from 780 to 650 per day beginning in June, and will focus on preserving early-morning flight times and peak afternoon traffic, he noted. The FAA has ordered a total of 300 flights to be cut daily at O’Hare, down from the previously planned 3,080 during the summer months

Two major American airlines are in crisis today — one permanently and one mysteriously.

Spirit Airlines announced the immediate suspension of all operations on Saturday, May 2, canceling every scheduled flight and shutting down customer service entirely after negotiations between the airline, its bondholders and federal officials collapsed. If you have a ticket without travel insurance you’re out your full cost.

Simultaneously, Delta Air Lines — once considered the gold standard of American aviation reliability — has been canceling hundreds of flights over the past two days while its rivals operate without disruption and its cutting frequency of flights so that daily flight may not be every day, during the fuel crisis.

If you have a PAL ticket it might be changed to the next day by the airline.

When reserving international air try for a nonstop or one stop connection.

Please allow 4 hours for the international connection. Flights often leave late from the first airport! Manila’s single-runway bottleneck means that roughly 1 in 6 flights leaves at least an hour late. Cebu performs better but is often at the mercy of late-arriving aircraft from Manila. Weather may also create delays whether its ice, tyhoons, heavy rain or winds. All planes often are stopped from landing or departing or there are serious delays

You often have to change terminals in your connecting airport to get from domestic to international, or vice versa, and this also takes time And airplanes begin boarding passengers one hour to 40 minutes before scheduled departure. Finally they lock the plane doors 30 minutes to 15 minutess before departure.

So arriving at new connecting airport 60 minutes late, plus often 30 minutes to change terminals if going from domestic to international or vice versa or changing airline companies (such as Delta to PAL), plus sometimes 30 minutes to go through security again, and then boarding the next plane 60 minutes before departure shows a 3 hour need just to change planes and why we recommend 4 hours. Plus they lock the plane door 30 minutes before departure.

As the United State budget shutdown continues be very careful of how you book flights. Please use a travel agent

The United States has had a shortage of air traffic controllers for years! Many of these people have to work 60 hour weeks and they’re stressed out already, and do take sick leave. Many have to pay bills and when they go into Payless pay days have to take alternative temporary jobs, so they call in sick. Firing them will only permanently create more shutdowns.

There will be times during this month, and possibly continuing into the future, where there will be flight delays as there is a shortage of controllers creating a shutdown of all flights for a period of time

Many times flight times change just a few days before travel You may learn about it at the airport When tou book through a travel agent we get a notice of the change and have to accept it Often i say no, i wont accept it because it might create a misconnection and we readjust all flights

1. Please don’t use lowest price to pick your ticket.
2. Try for just one change of planes
3. Use reliable airlines, not those with serious financial or on time problems
4. Use airports where transfers are easy and problems are minimal Ideally you want to move between gates in the SAME building and inside security
5. On international flights allow at least 4 hours for connections but in most cases not less than 3. Airlines board one hour before departure and usually lock the plane doors 30 minutes before departure. Departue means when the wheels leave the runway and the plane is in the air.

If you’ve already screwed up and you booked directly with the airlines or someone like Expedia I would be happy to sell you Travel Insurance to help with some of the problems. And again, dont go for cheapest insurance. Yes, you want lowest price, but for adequate coverage
