Check out this new program added for this weekend!

Join our Education Team for a Leaf Pounding 101 program at Monte Sano on this Sunday at 10AM at the YACC Pavilion across from the Camp Store! During this hands-on program you will get to make memories with loved ones you can treasure forever.

You will learn all about different trees found in the park, the function of a leaf, and about the native origins of this beautiful artform. Then you will get to take out your frustrations on, I mean gently apply leaf material to a tea towel you get to take home. 😁 All supplies are included in the program; you just need to bring you.

Limited seats, so sign up and learn more here: https://reserve.alapark.com/register/mountain-art-series--leafpounding-101

It's the most wonderful time of the year!
With lizards a basking and snakes a slithering
And state parks telling you, "Have no fear!"
It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Everyone, be reptile aware this summer as you explore all natural areas. 🦎 Our reptiles are an incredible part of our Monte Sano State Park ecosystem, but they can startle us when we are least expecting them on a trail and in our hiking groove. If you happen to see one while out and about in the park, distance yourself from the animal and admire from afar.

Want to learn more about the importance of our scaly friends to our natural environments? Join us on a Reptile Romp this summer to safely look for some scales and scutes and observe these magnificent animals in person.

Everyone, meet Christian!

Christian is our newest Summer Intern with our Education team here at Monte Sano State Park. Currently, he is working toward his degree in Environmental Studies at the University of Montevallo and is excited to make a positive impact on the environment in his community. His passion for the outdoors is palpable, and he is already proving lucky, having seen plenty of wildlife so far. Check out this great shot he took just today!

Join Christian and our Education team on Saturday at 9AM for a Guided Social Hike. We will meet at the Main Hiker's Parking Lot and go on a beginner hike around the plateau. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and good boots. As we cruise along, we will discuss ecology, human history, and just chit-chat as we traverse through Monte Sano's Oak and Hickory forests.

Guided Social Hike
Date: Saturday, June 6th
Time: 9:00 AM
Location: Meet at the Main Hiker's Parking Lot at Monte Sano State Park
Cost: Free with Park Entrance
