On the cover of our Fall 2026 issue ➡️ the otherworldly Sand Hollow Resort. Architect John Fought and former associate Andy Staples crafted a collection of generously wide fairways and massive greens on a 7,315-yard, par-72 layout replete with ridgelines, canyons, red rock cliffs—and no water hazards. A calm opening nine gives way to a back nine that’s a home run in any park, led by a four-hole stretch (Nos. 12 through 15) that’s among the most memorable in the Southwest.

The game is riding high. Yes, you may find it harder than ever to book a tee time let alone join a club, but the influx of new golfers bodes well for the future. This issue travels to special locations that welcome all comers, from revitalized municipal courses across the country to the starkly stunning southwest corner of Utah.
