We opened Cabin 7 back up this weekend! Here are a few pictures of the new decor! Thrilled to be back! Improvements include carpet on porches, bigger and better fridges, and a new color scheme! We posted that we would give one night free next weekend with the purchase of Friday night and cleaning fee and didn’t have any takers. If you were thinking about it, take the leap! Come help us make our soft reopening a good one! We will have cabins ready (mostly :-)) and would love to see you! Hope that you like the new and improved Reed’s on the River! We appreciate our guests! Don and Joleen

We are going to do a “soft” reopening next weekend on June 5th! For anybody that wants to take a last minute trip , we would sure appreciate the booking. Pay for Friday night and cleaning fee and we will give you Saturday night at no charge! Message me on Fb if you want to reserve! Please note that we won’t be at 100 percent . There could be some repairs being done on dock and landscaping so there may be a little more “noise” than normal. I will be posting a few pics in the next week of our upgrades! We promised better than before!

It’s been a bit since I posted an update but I wanted to wait till I could share some positive momentum. Please see pics of one of our cabins that has been rebuilt (new drywall, paint) and all the puzzle pieces of wood put back together! Flooring coming soon!

We have so many people to thank. We have guests that have come and volunteered their time to help put them back together. We have received donations and cards in the mail! We are grateful to all who have helped! How do we thank you all for your generosity?!

We promised to come back stronger and better than before and we will!

We continue to welcome the emails, texts, fb messages and cards. You all are simply the best!

For those of you that know gotten to know our sweet Halo, please keep us in your thoughts. Halo crossed the rainbow bridge two nights ago and we hurt. We know now she will be running free without Don and I constantly yelling at her to leave all of you alone!

We love you sweet Halo!

A wonderful friend of ours made these banners and signs for us. We LOVE them! We love hearing the stories of the memories our guests have made at the cabins.

P.S. Besides the sign, what I love about this picture is the number of cars parked. These are all friends that came today to help with drywall and electrical. We cannot rebuild with your help and we are so grateful!

Day by day, we are rebuilding! Feel free to share your favorite memory! We continue to be amazed by the outpouring of support. Thank you!

Out with the old (ok, not that old!) and in with the new! Each day moves us a step in the right direction. Thank you to so many people that have offered their physical help or monetary donation! We are so grateful! A few special thank you’s below:

Thank you to our Lima family for the donations. We are so grateful. Mitch, thank you for your feedback on the AC units. We may call on you about the cottage damage. 🙂

Thank you to one of our wonderful guests, Chris and his wife Ellen, who are driving up to donate their time to help with repairs.

I thanked my cousin Liz on our personal page, but she is the one behind the new interior design. I asked her to help due to the short amount of time we have to reopen and she stepped up in a big way! We hope you love what you see! I sure did!

Thank you to my wonderful step-daughter Becca who flew in from Charlotte to help with all the tasks we have to do.

We will start the drywall portion of the repair as early as this weekend. Working on carpet and laminate bids. We have two family friends volunteering their time for laminate install. Thank you!

Thank you to all our guests checking in on us! If you have a specific skill or desire to give, PM me privately. We are so thankful.

Wishing all our neighbors hope and healing!

The first pic is our trash pile in 2020 when we started the renovations and the second is today. To similar for my liking and to soon! The reality of the work and costs it is going to take to repair is heavy on our minds today. We are learning how to ask for help in order to achieve our goal reopening date.

Not sure if anyone knows a construction team that has a day that they could spare their crew. If that is you, please reach out to us so that we can talk. In order to open soon, we will need help and we realize that everyone needs help so these crews are going to be hard to find.

Don and I appreciate everyone so much. We truly are blessed.

The words for the day are WE WILL BE BACK! Finally, positive news to share today as we start to move to recovery. Our friends and family met today to empty the cabins so the disaster restoration company could do their thing. We had to toss 80 percent of the furniture (water didn’t damage metal frames or chairs). The discard pile is huge. The cabins will look new and refreshed.

We hired the disaster restoration company to rip out carpet and laminate floors, rip off baseboards, dry wall, etc where touched by water in any capacity. They bring in industrial fans for a couple days and will be done in 5 or so days. After they are complete, Don and Dave (Jo’s cousin from Nebraska who was part of the restoration 6 years), along with dear friends and family will do the repairs in the upcoming weeks.

We don’t have an exact date for reopening yet but should have a target date soon. We expect to be closed most of May. Please note cabin 1 and 8 were unaffected by the flood and no water entered those cabins. We welcome your reservations in cabin 1 and 8 in May! We need them now more than ever!

Your continued comments, texts, emails and calls are coming in at the exact moment we need to hear a word of hope. Keep em coming! For those of you that offered to help, thank you. We may be reaching out soon to take you up on that offer. It will take a village!

Thank you to our friends and family for rolling up their jeans and literally walking in mud.

Will update soon!

Committed to making more family memories

Thursday, April 16th update.

First and foremost, the amount of support we have received from our guests is amazing. I’ve cried so much in the last three days reading the emails of guests that have taken time to write us or offer supportive comments on our FB post. We have guests everywhere genuinely offering to help with cleanup. It warms our hearts to know we have helped our guest create memories.

We had two disaster relief companies come out today and provide us feedback and proposals. We have one more coming tomorrow. We are moving now from the shock stage, to the planning and rebuilding stage. Both Don and I are committed to rebuilding the cabins to better than before. We have every intention of opening sooner, rather than later.

We appreciate the guests who have reached out, first with concern, before asking about their reservations. More than anything, we appreciate them not canceling their reservation, because as a small business, that impacts us significantly.

We believe with the help of our friends, guests and community, we can open sooner rather than later.

People are asking what they can do to help. An encouraging word , an email, a text. All are welcome. If anyone has connections for appliances or flooring or furniture, reach out to us. If you own a local restaurant , we want to be able to feed our friends that help us with clean up. Or even landscaping. It was the year for mulch but it might be more than that now 🙂

Grateful for you all. Praying for our community and neighbors that are impacted worse than we have been.

First, thank you to all of our amazing guests who have reached out to check on us—it truly means more than we can put into words and is helping hold us together during this time.

We wanted to share an update regarding our cabins. Due to recent flooding, the property has been significantly impacted. At this time, we are assessing the damage and focusing on cleanup and recovery.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through next steps. Our priority is ensuring everything is safe and restored as soon as possible. We will continue to provide updates as we learn more.

We know many of you are wondering how you can help. Right now, we’re still figuring out what we need, but we will share ways to support as soon as we have a clearer picture—and we may reach out when the time comes.

We also understand there may be questions about upcoming stays. As a small, family-run business, your patience right now means everything to us. We’ll be in touch with updates as soon as we have more clarity. We have a ton of friends that are willing to put their time into cleaning us back up and restoring them to better than before (and soon) After all, this is our business!

These cabins have stood strong for over 100 years, holding generations of memories—and while this is a difficult moment, we truly believe there are still so many more memories to be made here by families in the years to come.

Our family recognizes and are praying for all those impacted.

Thank you for your continued support during this time—it truly means so much to our family.
