In July of 2022, we took the short drive from our house in Intervale to see a band at Theater in the Woods. We passed the sign for this venue dozens of times with occasional curiosity, but never had any reason to venture down the long driveway.
It was a rare moment when all my family was together plus my mom. We made our way through the building to the pavilion on the other side and were immediately surprised by the size of the landscape that opened before us.
Mountains rose stark against the twilight, their silhouettes edged with the vibrant green of encroaching forests. The valley rippled out, undulating like waves cresting at the shore. The scents of summer campfires and popcorn mingled in the air, and the summer evening’s warmth lingered upon our skin.
The land seemed to whisper tales of adventure, as if beyond our sight, fairies and sprites were poised, their gaze fixed from behind the foliage, beckoning us into the heart of their ancient magic.
Amidst the rhythmic pulse of reggae and the smiles of my loved ones, we danced as the North Conway sky commenced its vibrant spectacle. It boasted a show of colors that humbled us, a beautiful reminder of nature's grandeur.
This place, once just a sign we passed without thought, unfolded before us like a storybook waiting to be read. It was as if the universe had kept this secret treasure just for us, waiting for the perfect summer evening to unveil itself.
The sunset painted the sky in strokes of vibrant warmth, a perfect backdrop to the upbeat melodies that danced through the air. Here, with my family and the gentle touch of dusk, I stole a moment of joy and snapped a memory to tuck into the sketchbook of our lives - a sweet reminder to take a chance and explore the unknown.
