Cabin Cove by The River Cabin Cove by The River A lovely private cabin overlooking the Iowa River. Canoes & kayaks are available to rent from Iowa Falls Outfitters.

It has two bedrooms,one with a queen size log bed and the other with a set of twin beds. Enjoy a cozy room with a fireplace and a complete kitchen, just in case you want to cook a homemade meal. There is a private dock for you to just sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery on the Iowa River. All guests receive free tickets to ride the Scenic City Empress during the summer season -- June to October.

The amazing naturalist from Calkins Nature Area will be sharing information on some of our river's nighttime critters! Some are furry 🦌🦝, and some will fly. 🐦🦇 Once the sun goes down, they will send out some owl calls! 🦉 This event is a local favorite, for ALL ages!

Don’t forget today is Halloween festival at Calkins nature area!

Tomorrow is the day!!!

🎃 Come celebrate Halloween at Calkins Nature Area tomorrow, Saturday Oct 21st from 5 pm to 8 pm. 🎃

This is a free event and our activities include a hay rack ride, face painting, games, crafts, s’mores, a trick or treat trail, prairie maze, a kids costume contest (starting at 5:30), and food! HyVee will be on site to serve some “kid friendly” meals if you don’t want to indulge in our food trucks (tenderloins and hispanic food). This is going to be a great event and the weather is looking fantastic. See everyone there!!!
