Now's a good time to think about the condition of your RV tires.

I have noticed lately alot of post about tires blowing out on their rv. Tire manufacturers seem to be getting blamed for it but reality is there are alot of other variables at play. Proper tire inflation is important another is that axles are aligned to each other properly.
The most important factor is correct load rated tire for your rv. I took a pic of sticker on our camper for example. It shows gvwr 11,880. Tire size of 225/75/15 load range d. Load range d tire in this size has a max load of 2,540 lbs per tire. multiply that by 4 tires and you get 10,160 lbs which is 1,700 pounds below gvwr. I really should have load range e which would be 2,860 per tire or 11,440 for all 4. It still is a little under rated but is alot closer and would make me feel better about not blowing tire. Just like your vehicle potholes can damage trailer tires. Something else that does alot of damage to a tire is running them over a curb. Curbs put alot of preasure on a very small spot of tire and damage cords in tire resulting in failure. Running over curbs can put a slight bend in your axles as well. If your tires are not parellel it will cause excessive heat in tires plus wear them alot faster. Excessive heat will cause tires to blow. If you have to back over curb to be able to park your rv at home use some boards to make a ramp for your tires to prevent damage. I think it is obvious to check tires for cracking. Some rv dealers are telling people to replace tires every 3 years no matter what is a huge load of CRAP as long as you use proper load rating and pay attention not to run over curbs and properly inflate tires will last a good number of years. i hope this helps.
