Move over Ralph King. No really, move over - because another couple are right on your heels. We'd like to thank Heather and Chris Hartridge for sharing their journey with us. It's a bit of a gloomy day but Ralph King from St. Charles, IL is back on the road. After a couple of days for a rest stop at the Indianhead Motel to meet up with his wife Karen, Ralph took off once again on his trip across the country. He started in Washington and is going all the way to the East Coast. Good Luck, Ralph!

October 2016 saw the dedication to the newest section of the 791 mile Iron Belle bicycle trail. The Iron Belle begins in Ironwood and extends across the UP and Lower Peninsula all the way to
Belle Isle Park in Detroit. 6 1/2 miles of paved trail now goes from the Montreal River in Ironwood (the UP's western boundary) to Bessemer. It passes through meadows, past ponds and streams, crosses a number of bridges with beautiful views of the Bessemer Bluffs.

September 23, 2017 will be the inaugural running of the
Bridges & Bluffs Half Marathon and 2 mile walk/run.
The Bridges and Bluffs 1/2 marathon starts at the Depot Park in Ironwood, Michigan and runs along the Iron Belle Trail to Bessemer, Michigan and back along the trail finishing again at the Depot Park. Enjoy the newly constructed trail connecting the local community during the peak of Fall color while taking in the amazing sights of bluffs, rivers, and railroad bridges.
A 2-person relay and 2-mile run walk will also take place to enjoy at shorter distances.

TWWW GOGEBIC RANGE PHOTO CHALLENGE

In honor of the Smithsonian's "The Way We Worked" exhibit being here in Ironwood, I am issuing a photo challenge to everyone. Post a photo of how you or someone you know worked. When the exhibit ends at the end of May, we will draw one name at random from all those who posted a photo. The winner will receive one free night at the Indianhead Motel (holidays and special events excluded). I'll get things started with a photo of my father Miles "Bulls" Grasso (front left) with his father and siblings on the haywagon. You can probably guess how he got the nickname Bulls. We look forward to seeing your photos. You can post as many photos as you want. You will get one entry for each photo that you post. LET'S SEE HOW YOU WORKED!
