We’re looking forward to celebrating all the dads and father figures spending time with us this weekend at The Hope and Glory Inn.

Whether you’re staying with us and enjoying dinner at The Colonnade, or visiting The Dog & Oyster for an afternoon of wine, local seafood, and plenty of options beyond it, we’re grateful to be part of your Father’s Day celebrations.

At The Dog & Oyster, we’re one of only a handful of restaurants on the eastern tip of Virginia’s Northern Neck where you can enjoy oysters and crab just out of the water for a leisurely weekend lunch or an afternoon spent savoring the best of Coastal Virginia.

After all, when you come to Virginia’s Coastal Northern Neck, you’d be hard-pressed not to slurp an oyster raw, roasted, or fried—or indulge in a crab cake sandwich. Around here, we happen to believe they’re the best in the world.

If you’re joining us this weekend, Chef Stuart’s Chesapeake Dad Po’ Boy is available while supplies last, featuring golden fried oysters, pimento cheese, smoky bacon jam, spicy bread & butter chips, and Chesapeake remoulade on a toasted roll.

Here’s to good food, good company, and a weekend well spent with the people who matter most.

The best Father’s Day gifts aren’t always wrapped. Sometimes they’re served on the half shell.

This Father’s Day weekend, treat Dad to Stuart’s Chesapeake Dad Po’ Boy: golden fried oysters, pimento cheese, smoky bacon jam, spicy bread & butter chips, and Chesapeake remoulade on a toasted roll. Available this weekend only while supplies last.

Our Oyster Chef will also be serving fresh soft shell crabs, a seasonal delicacy that sold out quickly last weekend.

At The Dog & Oyster, we’re proud to be one of just a handful of places in the Northern Neck serving local oysters raw, roasted, and fried—alongside local crab, fresh seafood specials, and some of the region’s favorite sandwiches.

Whether Dad’s favorite is oysters, crab cakes, soft shells, or all of the above, we’d love to celebrate with you this Father’s Day weekend.

Introducing the June Menu at The Colonnade ✨

Thoughtfully crafted by Chef Meseret Crockett, this three-course dining experience celebrates the flavors of early summer with a menu that is both refined and deeply satisfying.

The evening begins with a chilled Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho—a smooth blend of heirloom tomatoes, scallions, cucumber, basil, garlic, and olive oil, brightened with a touch of raspberry vinaigrette and finished with fresh tomato garnish.

For the entrée, guests may choose between Chef Meseret's Signature Crab Cake, featuring jumbo lump crab delicately bound with house-made aioli and baked without fillers, finished with a light Old Bay beurre blanc and served alongside roasted ratatouille and a corn madeleine. Alternatively, guests may select the Chateaubriand, a tenderloin filet seared with garlic, thyme, and butter, roasted to medium rare, and accompanied by fondant potatoes and haricot verts.

The experience concludes with a silky panna cotta, finished with fresh mint and a vibrant orange peach coulis—a bright and elegant finale to the meal.

Designed to capture the abundance and ease of the season, the June Menu offers a thoughtful balance of coastal flavors, classic technique, and exceptional ingredients—an invitation to linger over an unforgettable evening in Irvington.

The June Menu is $125 per person. Alcohol, service charge, and taxes are not included and will be applied to your folio.

The Colonnade is open Thursday through Sunday with seatings at 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM. Reservations are required. Please call 804-436-3876 to secure your table.

There’s something special about being recognized for exactly who you are—and for a place like The Hope and Glory Inn, that identity has always been rooted in charm, character, and a true sense of place.

We’re honored to be featured by The Hotel Guru as one of the Chesapeake Bay’s “Best Hotels for Rural Retreats.”

Described as “the stuff of farmhouse dreams,” the Inn is “celebrated for its collection of rustic rooms and cottages set on a vineyard, where open fires, cheerful florals, and beautifully restored vintage details create a setting that feels both timeless and deeply personal. Paired with farm-to-fork dining and a thoughtfully curated wine list, it’s an experience designed to slow you down and settle you in.”

For us, that’s what it’s always been about—creating a place where guests feel not just welcomed, but truly transported.

If you’ve joined us before, you know. And if you haven’t yet… this might be your invitation to discover your own rural retreat here on at The Hope and Glory.

On Memorial Day, we proudly display our historic 45-star American flag, which became official on July 4, 1896, following Utah’s admission as the 45th state. It flew through a transformative chapter of American history and remains a powerful symbol of our nation’s enduring spirit.

Though no longer the official flag, the 45-star flag may still be flown by tradition. At Hope & Glory, we reserve its display for a select few occasions of national remembrance and reflection, including Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day weekend, and Veterans Day. The rest of the year, it remains carefully protected.

Today, it waves once more in honor of the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. May we pause to remember their sacrifice, reflect on the freedoms they helped secure, and carry their legacy forward.

Our “dog” proudly sporting a patriotic tutu and the tables are dressed for the holiday weekend! 🇺🇸

We look forward to welcoming you to The Dog & Oyster Micro-Vineyard & Oyster Bar this Memorial Day Weekend under the tent and away from the 🌧️ elements for oysters, our Dog & Oyster wines, coastal flavors like Chef Stuart Tyson’s soft shell crab weekend specials.

And for those who haven’t visited us yet… or who are still looking for the “old” Dog & Oyster… this is your reminder that The Dog & Oyster has evolved into something truly special here in Irvington.

What began as a tiny oyster and wine spot has grown into a full Chesapeake experience in the heart of one of the Bay’s most charming towns. Today you’ll find chandeliers hanging beneath the tent, fresh flowers on the tables, wines crafted specifically for oysters, expanded food offerings beyond oysters alone, and one of the few places in the region serving local oysters three ways alongside crab prepared three ways.

Enjoy our signature wines like Oyster White, Pearl, Rosie, and Shelter Dog Red while settling in beside one of the Chesapeake Bay’s most celebrated foodie destinations at The Hope & Glory Inn.

This isn’t your typical wine trail stop. It’s a relaxed, elegant, coastal lunch experience built around great wine, fresh seafood, and the kind of hospitality that makes you want to linger awhile.

Some places leave an impression long after you’ve gone. Not just because of the food or the setting, but because of the people behind it all.

Reviews like this from guests like Jaimee S. mean the world to us because they capture exactly what Dudley, Peggy, Stuart, and the entire team hope every guest feels when they visit The Dog & Oyster and The Hope & Glory Inn.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Jaimee S.

“We had such a lovely experience at The Dog and Oyster. You can immediately tell this place is something truly special and personal to the people who created it. Dudley and Peggy were absolutely wonderful hosts. They were so warm, welcoming, and genuinely excited to share the story behind the property, the restaurant, and the inn. Hearing about the history and little details from them made the experience feel so much more meaningful and memorable.

The property itself is beautiful, peaceful, and charming in a way that feels both elegant and comfortable at the same time. You can really feel the care and passion that has gone into every part of it.

We also have to mention Stuart, the grill master, who was fantastic as well. He was incredibly kind and made some seriously delicious food. Everyone there made us feel like guests in their home rather than customers at a restaurant.

Between the atmosphere, the wine, the oysters, and the genuinely lovely people behind it all, this ended up being one of those places you leave already wanting to come back to. Highly recommend making the trip out there."

You know how you can tell summer is on the way?

Here’s a hint: 🦀

Chef Stuart Tyson is debuting a holiday weekend special that feels like the unofficial start of the season here in Coastal Virginia. Local soft shell crabs are one of those fleeting tastes of summer we wait for all year long, right alongside longer days, warm breezes off the water, and evenings spent outdoors with a glass in hand.

Join us this Memorial Day weekend for our Soft Shell Crab Sandwich or Soft Shell Crab Pickin’s — four soft shell crab halves served with our Chesapeake remoulade.

It’s how we eat ’em on the Northern Neck.

Available this weekend only at The Dog & Oyster while supplies last.
