First owls...now squirrels. 🦉🐿️

At this rate, we're beginning to think River Retreat Lodge, in Swan Valley, Idaho is secretly running a wildlife nursery. ❤️

One of our baby squirrels has been keeping us entertained in the aspens out front. They spend their days chasing each other through the branches, chirping back and forth, and playing games just like little kids.

Fortunately for our guests, the entertainment is included with your stay. 🌿

🦉 An Update & Celebration in Honor of Our Little Lodge Guests 🦉

Last weekend we spotted a tiny Long-eared Owl owlet tucked into the arm of one of our outdoor chairs. A short time later, we discovered a second owlet hiding safely in the shrubs nearby. We believe the first owlet eventually made its way from the chair to our antique plow before joining its sibling in the bushes.

Just in time for Father's Day weekend, we also spotted a watchful parent keeping an eye on the entire scene from a nearby tree.

Moments like these are part of what makes Swan Valley so special. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, but sometimes nature puts on a show right outside the lodge.

This fluffy little guest checked in overnight to River Retreat Lodge and selected a premium wicker suite with forest views. Payment method remains unclear, but judging by the stare, we're not asking. We think he/she is a Great Grey Owl fledgling....what do you think?
