The rear verandah overlooks breath-taking ocean views, palm trees and the white sand beach, while the front verandah overlooks a beautiful tropical landscaped garden. Our vacation home also has a Roof Top Deck, again with stunning views of the palm lined sandy beach, and views of the blue & turquoise Ocean as far as the eye can see. ✈️ Commercial Flights Could Be Coming Back to Marathon 🌴
------------

Commercial flights may be one step closer to returning to Marathon Airport. Monroe County is laying the groundwork to bring scheduled airline service back to the Middle Keys for the first time since 2009.

✈️ The county has applied for a federal grant to help bring an airline to Marathon. At the same time, local hotels, businesses and tourism groups have put together more than $1.5 million to help make it happen.

💰 County commissioners have also agreed to waive landing fees and terminal rent for the first two years for whichever airline signs on.

🛫 Right now, the airport's consultant says the best options would be flights to Miami, Atlanta or Washington Dulles. Those airports would give travelers in the Middle Keys easy connections to cities all over the country.

🚧 Before any flights can start, the airport still needs TSA screening, baggage handling and a few other security upgrades.

🏗️ A lot of the heavy lifting has already been done. Over the past few years, Marathon Airport has rebuilt its runway, upgraded the terminal, added a new jet fuel facility and completed millions of dollars in improvements to prepare for future growth.

📅 No airline has officially committed yet, but if everything comes together, commercial airline service could begin as early as late 2027.

We are teeny tiny, but glorious

There we are, allll the way south at the southernmost point of Florida and the continental United States. 🌴 The drive through the Florida Keys is one of those bucket-list experiences everyone should do at least once. From stops at iconic spots like Robbie’s, Hog Heaven, Mile Marker 88, and Sunset Grille, to cruising across the legendary Seven Mile Bridge, the longest bridge in Florida, the journey is every bit as memorable as the destination.
