We have to reciprocate the love shown by one of our favorite restaurants (turkey for us, please) and an iconic Jackson institution.

has been a vital and vibrant staple in the City of Jackson for 55 years. Starting as a neighborhood grocery store in 1970, this Black-owned family business has been meeting feeding folks from Washington Addition and around the world for decades.

We are always happy to point our guests to Stamps—and to make sure they have extra pillows when they need to take the inevitable itis nap.

An educator and good troublemaker, Alva Norphlet was a champion for education, voting, and other social issues in Clarksdale, Miss. Her determination and will took her from sharecropping to sharing her knowledge and wisdom with hundreds of students.

She also taught Jason how to make her famous cream cheese pound cake. 🥮

We are proud and privileged to keep her memory and legacy alive through her room at The Orchid.
