More interesting guests! Last week we had a lovely young violinist who was here auditioning for the Symphony. She joined us for dinner and we invited the Jorge and Jin(both accomplished JSO Musicians) for a night of food and conversation. Right now we are hosting a lovely Dutch Couple, and she is a furniture maker. Our next guest is a graduate student in aerospace engineering . Renting out the cottage pays dividends in so many cool ways beyond the dollar.

We have stayed nearly fully booked since opening in June and have been fortunate to have very nice guests. We have had Chefs, Doggy photographers, Bo***ir photographers, Doctors, lawyers, teachers, preachers and most recently, aspiring members of the Jacksonville Symphony who are in town for auditions.

The cottage had new visitors about two weeks ago. We were sitting on the pergola swing when two tiny black kittens appeared out of nowhere. One appeared to be a girl and one a boy. We promptly named them Lucy and Edward only to find out that they are both boys and one had already been fixed. "Lucy" is now called "George". Mama Cat has also been seen to skulk around the edge of the Garden paying short visits to her now independent kittens. They are now officially garden kittens and will greet you on your next visit to The Gardener's Cottage.

Folks who stay at The Cottage almost always make the bed or tidy it up before they leave. We do not ask this of them . They just do. They treat us like friends. It really is amazing .

This is the Snowball Kitty. As you can see, he is cross eyed. As a kitten he used to run into doors and walls. Since then , he has adjusted himself to seeing two of everything and maneuvers quite well. These days he spends his time meditating by the pool and lurking outside the cottage when we have guests. He looks in at them and tries to get them to let him in. We have trained our guests well so that they do not fall victim to his charms and end up sneezing all night from his allergens.

It is Lizard Season and I just realized that I have a fine Lizard pillow to place in the cottage to commemorate the occasion. His name is "Donald".
