Many people go to the Springfield to see the Lincoln sites, which are great, but often they are not made aware of this amazing architectural treasure from Frank Lloyd Wright that now belongs to the state and has been lavishly restored to its original condition when it was completed in 1904. The first photo was taken on December 7, when we did our first indoor outreach. Thank you to Pastor John and Mandy Hutton of the GO Church for letting us use their beautiful facility. That was a special day for me, and a wonderful way for me to celebrate the eighth anniversary of my miraculous cure from cancer. This is a group photo we took after the event showing 14 of our outreach team, including myself...You will notice I'm wearing all white, as a symbol that when I was cured in the body, I was also forgiven my sins and given a new soul, white as snow. I am very grateful as a citizen of Jacksonville that this team mostly from Springfield has been blessing our community and loving on the unsheltered community in a beautiful way. This team, who I am grateful to be associated with are all AWESOME.

Every Tuesday we get together at someone's home for a dinner and a prayer meeting, and we also plan strategy for our future activities.

The second photo shows recently retired Jacksonville Police Department Chaplin, Alan Bradish, who has been a long-time advocate for the homeless here. He came to visit us and give us encouragement for what we were doing there in the park.

The third photo shows how some of the wives and other ladies in our group surprised us when we did our outreach near Thanksgiving on a Sunday, and decorated the tables in a wonderful way for our Thanksgiving feast we hosted outdoors at that time.

EVERYBODY GETS A BIG KICK OUT OF #99 TOBY McTAMNEY, (especially the other team Illinois College is playing against!). The Illinois College team trounced Lawrence College recently, 69-14! (OUCH!). The game before that they beat that team 59-ZIP!
Even though Toby is hugely talented and hugely popular on campus, he is the nicest young man with an amazing attitude of humility for an athlete of his stature. They say the fruit doesn’t fall too far from the tree, and both Kimo and I have fallen in love with this amazing family who has been faithful in going to all of Toby‘s games, both here and wherever he’s playing. And they live all the way West in Colorado. The game this coming Saturday will be Toby’s last home game as a senior at Illinois College, so a bittersweet moment for him, his parents and the college he’s played his heart out for. I know whatever he does when he pursues a career, he will be successful. He obviously already subscribes to a culture of excellence and good character in his young life of only 22 years. Congratulations Toby, on a storied career on the football team of Illinois College. May God bless you with success that you will surely have in the future whatever you do, and God bless your wonderful mom, dad and sisters, as well as your girlfriend Riley Dodd.

(FOR AUDIO CLICK “SEE MORE”) just before Covid started, the New York production company that owns 23 reality shows on the cable networks had agreed and raised funds to do a pilot television program that was gonna be starring me and my dog, with a mansion as the set. The name of the show was going to be: OVER THE HILL IN JACKSONVILLE. Which has a double meaning, one being that I came over the Sierras and the Rocky Mountains to get to Jacksonville and the other, of course referring to my advanced age. I had written the script for the pilot show and the first episode. It was a done deal until Covid hit, and the production company was in a panic about Covid and canceled the show. I had written the lyrics to what was going to be the theme song which I intended to have done with fiddles and banjos in the similar style of the Beverly hillbillies theme song because like the New York production guy said it was gonna be a one-man Beverly hillbillies in the Midwest with the mansion is the setting and it was gonna be a very funny show It would’ve been great for Jacksonville if it had happened. Mikey Tiffany is a Jacksonville local born here and he became a very talented script writer and independent film producer. He had written the script for the horror movie that was filmed here sometime ago. anyway, he surprised me and asked me to send him the lyrics to the song and he has now gotten adept at artificial intelligence and was able to put music to the words to my song, he did this one in a hurry and he says he could improve on it, but this gives you an idea of the amazing things he can do with artificial intelligence. Enjoy the song the song is the same name is the title of the show “over the hill in Jacksonville.”. I also included attached here a screenshot of the actual words to this song that all of which got into this shorter version on AI. hi Connie audio link attached here and you can hear Mikey Tiffany’s amazing job. He did using the words

ABOUT THE PHOTOS ATTACHED HERE: (Regular folks might title this POST: "THE WAY WE WERE"? But a redneck like me would rather Title it: "THE WAY WE WUZ...BACK IN THE DAY" (LOL!!!)

The first photo was taken in 1975 when I was 28 years old, when I had a successful nightclub and restaurant. The second photo is when I was 34 or 35 years old, while I was struggling in and out of drinking trying to stay sober. (8 relapses the first three years, before I put the plug inthe jug for good on Aug. 16th, 1982) I hope that gives HOPE to those who are now struggling to stay sober? The trick is: NEVER GIVE UP...Keep doing it till ya make it! The Wolf head photo was just for fun, having my mammalian alter-Ego on top of the piano to give me inspiration while I’m playing and composing? I was 44 years old in the full beard photo when I did a solo classic Organ concert in a large four story atrium hotel in the city of Clear Lake, CA. I had that big beard for quite a while but after a while it was just took too much time to mess with it every morning. I was spending 45 minutes to wash it and dry it and get it combed out. I decided to save the time and just trim down to a mustache? LOL (I remember at the time, I mused to myself: "Dude! Some women spend that much time in the morning in the interest of vanity, but you do NOT have to spend time like that, when you could gain an hour to spend on the biz things you need to do! (LOL)

His legal name, is Herbie North. but all of our guests know him by his show-biz name that we came up with that is an Hawaiian name, and we simply call him: “Kimo The Butler”. we looked on the Internet for various Hawaiian first names, and I encouraged him to choose this one, because it says on the Internet, then in Hawaiian culture, this name honors people were considered to have qualities like ‘ strength, and determination’. And that certainly fits this fine young man is now barely in his mid 30s, with a wonderful family of four children and a wonderful wife named Toya. When Herbie asked me why we had to change his name as the Butler, I told him that I didn’t have very many skills, but marketing and branding was one of my strong skill sets that came naturally to me, and I told him in my educated opinion, that “Herbie” just didn’t sound like a serious Butler to me? (Grin). But I love the fact that in Hawaiian culture is name means people with strength and determination. myself, as a person who has never really had a family most of my life until I met my two blood sisters in a few recent years ago, I had a very violent traumatic childhood, ao when I heard Herbie's story of his childhood as a seriously handicapped kid with cerebral palsy, which he nearly died from at the age of one when they misdiagnosed him., I related to him in a big way. He told me how in school the kids would bully him and make fun of him because of his handicap, one leg is shorter than the other and weaker, and one of his hands shows the debilitating effects of that disease. When he told me how he was physically & verbally bullied as a kid in school, I totally understood what he went through, because my experience as a kid with fetal alcohol syndrome, resulting in uncontrollable, extreme stuttering and stammering, I had no friends in school and they bullied me physically & verbally as well. (they talk a lot about bullying online these days, but when it’s up close and Personal, I think it’s a lot more painful.). I first met Herbie at a birthday party that was being held by either Steve Warmowski or Michael Woods and their children at Lovejoy Hall, (the historic abolitionist Church at 520 West College that I converted into a theater auditorium and event venue). I have since sold that property.
I had a chance to meet his children who were quite young at that time probably six and seven years old and now I think they are 10 and 11. I also met his wife Toya, and they treated me like I was family and I felt very much in a family way toward them. And I and his family have been friends ever since. At some point, I invited him be over to the mansion here while I was getting ready to open the bed and breakfast, and I had already purchased a custom 19 century style Victorian Butler‘s outfit complete with black tie and tails, proper Victorian, striped stroller, pants, and white gloves. After using the excuse to have him come over to wash dishes for me, which I was going to pay him for. I showed him the Butler‘s uniform and told him if he would let me train him, and if he would wear that that he could make very good tips because of the high-end atmosphere of my bed and breakfast and the likelihood that I would have well-off people staying here from all over the country and as it turns out now, even from other places in the world. He didn’t give me much resistance and thought he would give it a try. There was a long process of training and he was a very good student, and I was convinced that he would fill the role perfectly.n In spite of his handicap status, he had a very genuine, pleasant personality and was always polite and projected a good natured, love and interest in other people? My intuitions were correct, and after a process of training on the job., he became very good at this, and all my guests just love him to pieces! And in almost all of our five star reviews, he gets mentioned in a positive light… it doesn’t happen all the time, but there have been times, including One special time when some folks came in a private jet from the East Coast, and he was very accommodating to them and took extra good care of them and at their 4 day stay, as is our tradition, we go out and and see our guests off & tell them we will pray for their safe travels. After he puts their luggage in and the two of us warmly see them off, the gentleman asked Kimo to come over to the driver side and after staying there for just a few days, the gentleman gave him five $100 bills for a tip! And similar things like that and happen from time to time. and even though this is a part-time job where I only use him, as needed, it has definitely been a blessing to his struggle to try to raise a family of four children, which as you all know isn’t easy these days? Like me, Herbie and his wife and children came from California because property is much more reasonable here and they were able to buy themselves a home for their family where in California it was an impossibility even back then. Since I have found the Lord Way late in life not until age 71, when I had a miraculous cure from cancer in a matter of two hours from the time, I arrived home when I was supposed to die of the cancer soon after? and since then, I realize things like meeting Herbie and his family was a God appointment that was meant to happen. As a result of this job of being the butler in this 19 century uniform, he has made many friends all across the country and in countries like Japan and England and other places. As I mentioned, Herbie is the quintessential people person who loves to meet new people and make friends with them? So he started his own page which you can all go to and you will see his enthusiasm for the guest for stayed here over the last three years or so since he has been the Butler of the house. To see his page just go to Facebook: KIMO THE BUTLER. He has chronicled, interesting facts, and photos of the various people who have stayed here, and people interact with him on that page. Soe reach out who have stayed here before because as I said, everybody likes him very much. So because of this, his whole personal self identity has evolved into something unique, and I have mentored him as I would a son, not only on how to deliver five star service at the mansion, ? but I also giving him life coaching and teaching moments along the way as I would if he were my son. As part of his training, I taught him how to greet people at the door, and told him how we would always go out to the street and meet our guests and take their luggage from the street to the house so they wouldn’t have to carry their luggage to the long walkway to the front steps? I also told him that we only had one chance in the beginning to make a good first impression on our guests? So I told him simple as it sounds, all you have to do when you greet people, is welcome them, sincerely and warmly as if you were greeting relatives you hadn’t seen for a long time that you were very happy to see? He has done this consistently and treated everybody in such a way that he couldn’t do enough for them, and everyone without exception has thoroughly enjoyed knowing him and enjoying his warm personal desire to give our guests way more than they ever expected. You can see this reflected in the awesome reviews we get, and have continued to get since the inception of the business here, which has resulted in our consistently having the preeminent position on Google search for five star stays, and yes, we are even above the Hilton hotel and other fine establishments in Springfield. The algorithms have determined our reviews are superior to all of their hospitality, establishments between here and the state capital of Springfield? He is often told me, that he has learned more from me about business and other things that he felt he ever would have had he not met me and had that job? So he is more than an employee, he is like family to me and so is the rest of his family. He has a teenage son, 17, Malakhai, who is a musician who plays awesome alto, saxophone, and performs in Chip Davis‘s drum line here in Jacksonville. He also has a teenage daughter, Makayla age 15. His two youngest daughters are: Malani. aged 11, & Mylah age 10.. The children all treat me as if I were their grandfather that they love very much. So for a man that never had a family, this gives me a lot of joy in my old age to know this wonderful family. His wife Toya was born in Hawaii, and Herbie‘s dad was born in Hawaii, but they came to California and that’s where they came from from Long Beach California to Jacksonville. I just had to tell you what a joy it has been to have known Herbie (Kimo's) family and to have had him here as our iconic black tie and tails 19 century butler's uniform, gives an historical context to the house for the guests that visit us from all over the country and all over the world. He is also a young man of faith, and since I had just recently found the Lord myself, it was always a joy to me how he would come to work always extra early so after he got dressed, he would come and say it’s time to say a prayer so we have a good day and can take good care of our guests, so we get the five star reviews? He started that tradition the very first day he came to work, where we would pray together before the guests were to be served, and he never broke that tradition all this time. Anyway, I thought our Facebook audience and a lot of our previous guests, who often check into our page, might like to get a chance to know something about him and how he became the awesome butler of the Villa DeWolf mansion? In front of guests and when talking with me in front of other people, he always calls me, uncle Jethro… the reason for that, is in his Hawaiian culture, a younger person, who greatly admires an older person, it is a symbol of respect when you call these people either auntie or uncle? Be sure to check out is amazing page., KIMO THE BUTLER, and you will see how closely he follows everything that goes on with the guests that come here, and he always remembers details about the guest, who stayed here previously that often return more than once. To say that Kimo (Herbie) and his wonderful family, have been a blessing and joy in my family-less life, is an understatement

MEDICAL ALERT MEDICAL ALERT:
Hello folks good news is I get to come home tomorrow ( Friday)
A warm hello to all my dear Facebook friends, both here and all over the country. It looks like I get to come home tomorrow sometime midday. (Friday) (l have to make some corrections to the video sometimes when you have a little stage fright, doing a live show like that without a script, it’s easy to get confused on some things so here are the corrections .). When I referred to the date of my being sent home to die at hospice, was not December 17 it was actually December 7, 2017. ). Early in the video I mentioned some amazing negative statistics that were life-threatening when I first got here and I misspoke when i said in the second item the 390 figure I was referring to was actually my dangerously high blood sugar which was 395 when I got here. they just took my blood sugar minutes ago here and it is now 109. The other statistic is my heart rate. My heart was beating in fast mode threatening AFIB between 135 and 185 beats a minute. Today I have no AFIB It was just temporary during a near death crisis. My heart rate today was 88. When they weighed me in, I was less than 130 pounds. I will be leaving the hospital tomorrow at 146 pounds. So in one week they put the old cowboy back together again. But it was Dr. Jesus that was walking alongside them that made the big difference in my humble opinion. Even doctors can use a little Jesus when they’re working? ((Grin). Dr. Carew Loved this video, and said she’s going to text to all the staff doctors and crew and administration to be sure to take a look at it. She thanked me very much and told me that she could tell that my words came directly from my heart and we’re very sincere and well meaning . Dr. Carew was so wonderful. I know that she followed my case every day diligently, and really cared that I got through this. As I told her I could not get this kind of service and genuine caring even from the award-winning UCFS research Hospital which I had been using for years in San Francisco. Believe me, I would rather be here than in UCFS in a medical crisis any day! I meant every word of what I said in that video, and I think you can tell by my tone and demeanor that it was straight from my California Pea-pickin’ HEART! ( In this video I was out of breathe due to the 1/2 hour aerobic walk I had I had just completed )

God bless each and everyone of you and your families until we meet here on this page.

Ron Keas, well known California painter and art photographer (most famous for his Marilyn Monroe portraits), is the artist who did the portrait of Augustus Ayers and Abraham Lincoln shown in the photos above. People when they see the portrait of Augustus Ayers presumes the artist airbrushed the oil painting of Gus Ayers to make him look super handsome. To demonstrate that this was certainly not so I am showing you on the left a photo of the original tintype photo that was taken of him 1 week before he moved into his Italianate home here at 876 W. State St. he was 30 years old when he moved in and it took him 4 years to build. When you look at Ron Keas' portrait of Lincoln it is patently obvious that he is a portrait artist of world class talent. I invite you to check out his website that displays his famous portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Clint Eastwood and others. Go to www.3Dviewmax.com A humorous incident occurred here at the house during a tour of 28 farmers and their wives from Griggsville. Il. who were here for a group tour of the mansion. A very delightful farmers wife well into her 80's kept staring at the portrait of Gus Ayer's for the longest time, while the group was in the west parlor. I said to her: "... What do you think of the painting of Mr. Ayers?" She quickly replied to all there assembled: ;"All I can say is, he must have had to beat the women off with a pick-ax handle!" Needless to say it cracked us all up for several minutes before the tour continued.

One way I enhance revenue here to keep the lights on in this big house. (GRIN!) is to offer tours such as I did for the Griggsville's farmers group for a suggested donation of $10.00 per person so any group interested in arranging a tour can call me, Jethro DeWolf at 707-349-7790. For those groups desiring a catered luncheon or dinner event can also be accommodated seating a minimum of 24-45 persons. Call me to inquire for details.., CELL 707-349-7790.

HERE IS A FOLLOW UP ON THE RESTORATION OF THE HISTORIC GAZEBO/PERGOLA AT COMMUNITY PARK.

I want to thank personally, Mr. Pete Carteaux, of the Rotary Club who took his valuable time to come down and meet at the gazebo site, with me and Larry Speakman and Dennis Doyle who were going to volunteer to help with the project. Mr. Carteaux is a very fine gentleman and I mentioned to him that his name sounded like a classic old French name, and he told me some of the amazing genealogical history of his family that goes back to Napoleon and people close to Napoleon. Mr. Carteaux explained to me that using volunteers is not a good idea just to save money? He pointed out that it could become an insurance liability for the rotary club or any other organization that might be participating in the project. I was very pleased to know that he wanted the job to be done right the first time and suggested if the Rotary club's board will allow us to use them to hold the funds that I hope to raise with some fundraising projects? He said not to let anybody think it's a done deal, but he pointed out to me how even that other gazebo has a plaque on it, showing that the Rotary club restored it quite a few years ago, and as we mentioned previously, they did a beautiful job of restoring the one that now is at Prairie land. I got to thinking how appropriate it would be if it was the Rotary club who helped spearhead the effort to finish the final gazebo? Sort of completing a legacy of theirs? Mr. Carteaux suggested that we get bids from competent qualified contractors both for the structural part, the masonry issues, and a painting contractor of quality he said once we have the bids and total them up we will know how much funds we have to raise. I would like to offer upfront to put on a very special fundraising breakfast at the mansion here where we could seat about 40 people in the ballroom and 10 people at the main table, and I could serve our five star rated blueberry hot cakes with maple syrup and breakfast meat from our own wonderful high-quality Jones meat locker plant? (If we served on a Sunday from 7:00 AM till Noon, we could easily handle more than 200 people?) He also said that my expectation of getting this done before the winter sets in is unrealistic, and I realize he is correct. so we are looking at some time next spring when the weather cooperates, but that will give us plenty of time to get all our ducks in a row with bids in and the plan firmly in place? He just has to talk to the board at Rotary to make sure they would approve of holding the funds for the fundraisers? And I envision going around to other service clubs in granting institutions to get funds for this, and knowing the "Can-Do" spirit of this wonderful Jacksonville community, I have great confidence that we can do this thing? Anyway, this is an update with no guarantees, but I think it's safe to say that things seem promising and Mr. Carteaux's advice is very intelligent and I'm going to go with that because they have done this before and know what they're talking about? Meanwhile say a prayer that this all gets taken care of because it will be a blessing to the community when that gazebo is all dolled up and used for musical events & church services, and other cultural offerings. Our Jacksonville community has a long Legacy of wonderful Art & music cultural events that take place here. We are truly still, (as they said in the 19th century: ) "THE ATHENS OF THE WEST". please share this out to as many people as you can so we can generate as much enthusiasm as possible so we can bring this to the attention of individuals and institutions who could help us get this accomplished? And once again, a big thank you to Mr. Carteaux and the Rotary club for even considering this? I will keep you posted of any progress as it happens. Sometime in the coming Spring would be a reasonable time frame for this project to come together and get completed. I am an optimist, so I will keep envisioning the preferred outcome on this...

I received a phone call recently, and almost couldn't believe it, but the person on the other line was our own elegant Miss Illinois who recently competed in the nationally televised Miss America pageant. She called to ask me if she and her friend from Peoria. Hugh Toner could come on this past Sunday for a tour of the Ayers mansion? Naturally, I immediately agreed as long as it would be after I had been to church? When I mentioned that she mentioned that she also was someone who believed in the Lord and we had quite a discussion about such things, and you will notice on her handwritten message to me on the photo here attached, she had a warm personal message that had a spiritual touch to it. I am proudly displaying this picture at this time on the fireplace mantle in the West parlor where the oil portraits of Lincoln & Augustus (Gus) Ayers hang. Miss Illinois's name is. Breanna Bagley. As soon as I knew she was coming I called Kimo the Butler, and asked him to come and dress in the period black tie and tails and white gloves uniform, so when she came, everything would be picture perfect for her and Hugh. He got here a half an hour before they arrived to give him time to get into his uniform and turn on the lights all over the house so we could conduct the tour when they arrived. Kimo's daughters we're excited about the idea of him meeting Miss Ill., who was competing in the Miss America pageant. So after Breanna BAGLEY gave me the portrait she went to the car and got three other portraits to give to his daughters that she signed as well. After she & Hugh left, Kimo and I remarked to each other how impressed we were with her? She was not only an articulate communicator, but she had a certain aura of down Home pleasantness, and humility that is rare among a lot of pageant contestant winners these days? Kimo and I both thought she should've won Miss America after we met her and had a chance to get to know her a little bit. When Kimo mentioned to her that he was from Hawaii. she told him how much she enjoyed knowing Miss Hawaii and how pleasant and wonderful she was? Breanna and Miss Hawaii became good friends during the Miss America pageant. It never ceases to amaze me the diversity of our guests and how interesting they all are, and Breanna Bagley was one of the most pleasant and interesting guests we've ever had at the mansion. Kimo was SO glad he was able to be there. I gave the tour and much of the history of the Ayers family and his amazing mother Eliza Freytag Ayers, & Kimo gave them both the tour of the second and third floors of the mansion. (Go to the page: KIMO THE BUTLER) and you will see other pictures of Breanna & Hugh with Kimo, who they thoroughly enjoyed meeting and talking to. I just had to share with you this most amazing latest news of the amazing people that come to our mansion.
