Before construction was even completed on the beach house, I was on a mission to find products that we could provide to guests that matched our values of sustainability. I wanted to make sure we used products with non-toxic ingredients and reduced our waste as much as possible. I got lucky when I found because they checked our sustainability boxes and were super cute! We provide their shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, dish soap, and dish washing detergent.

Reason #216 why I LOVE visiting the island Oct-Feb? Less crowds. I’m actually able to enjoy the beach, my favorite restaurants, and attractions without fighting the massive summer crowds. Also, the weather is basically amazing in the fall, winter, and spring.

What’s our why?

Let me tell you a little story. About 60 years ago two couples (identical twin sisters, who married brothers!) bought a property together and built a beach house. They then spent many years visiting the house, bringing their children, and creating memories. Their children then had children and they spent even more years at the beach, playing croquet, catching fireflies, and playing uno. After awhile, the grandchildren grew older and they weren’t able to visit as often. So the couples sold the house to another family but kept the property next door. A few years later, a granddaughter who is obsessed with houses bought the property and built this house with the memories of the old home at the forefront of her mind.

We want, more than anything, to create similar memories in this house with our daughter and our extended family. We want her to have memories of sleepovers in the bunk beds with cousins, telling ghost stories and saying the house down the street is haunted, arguing over who won at croquet, and having family gatherings for holidays. We also want this house to help YOU create memories for you and your family because I know how magical they will be.

This past weekend, we were able to throw my grandmother a surprise party for her 80th birthday and it was better than I could have imagined. Here’s to more memories 🥂

Today is meet the host day! Which has been long overdue.

I’m Ashlee, the one behind the account, the design of the beach house (from the ground up), and running our Airbnb listing. I’m an enneagram 6 and inherently think of all possible scenarios, good and bad, before I do something. I’ve always loved houses and hospitality, so short term rentals are the perfect way to combine my passions. And when I say, I love houses, I mean I LOVE houses. I would go to open houses all day long if my husband let me and I love scouting Zillow wherever we vacation. Now that you know more about me, I’d love to learn more about you! Whenever we stay somewhere, there are never enough hooks. At the JB Beach House, we’re all about that hook life. Not sure where to put your towel? On a hook! Where should I hang my clothes? On a hook! When in doubt? Hang up some more hooks.

The beach house has so many personal touches including the beautiful painting painted by the lovely hanging in the living room. However, the stair railing has to be our favorite. It was built by my brother, with some assistance from my husband, and is so special to us.
