Little Sugar Farm

Little Sugar Farm Retreats, Weddings, Reunions, Weekend Adventures in Glamping Tents and our heritage Farmhouse. It's always beautiful on the farm! Jana, Paul & Niki

On the banks of the Little Sugar Creek where our ancestors bought land in the mid 1800s lies the Little Sugar Farm of almost 400 acres. Jana and Niki inherited the property in 2006 after our Pawpaw died where he and our Grandmother Junie lived since the mid 1960s raising cattle, chickens, pigs and hay. Prior to our grandparents our great grandparents Turner & Von Russell owned the property and ou

r great, great grandparents Willie and Zora were actually the first of our ancestors to live in the farmhouse which from what we can tell was built in 1914. The farmhouse was at the time built with two bedrooms and one bath then throughout the years it has been added onto now including three bedrooms, bunkroom, 2 1/2 baths and 2 living areas, dining and kitchen, including a large porch perfect for watching wildlife added in the 1950's. In the mid 1970's, June & Clark added a new kitchen, living room, master bedroom and master bathroom. An interior room was once an office is now the "bunk room", perfect for kids to hide out in! Our farmhouse has been a vacation rental since 2010 with hundreds of guests enjoying the farm, nature, creek and local activities throughout the last decade. In 2020 Jana and Paul created the Glamping and Gathering business for unique and new accommodations for guests stays at the farm that would allow us to share even more of our farm with others and allow for groups to gather outside and enjoy the heritage that we've been so grateful to inherit. In addition to the farmhouse we now have over 80 acres which hosts 4 Safari tents, 3 bell tents, a shower house facility with four full baths and two outdoor showers, two outdoor showers and large 2,800 square foot deck two barns and access to the Little Sugar Creek. Our farm has been a gift for entire life and we are so very happy to share it with others and look forward to your visit!

Every Wild One needs a broom.

If you've been to Farm to Spell before, you know.

There is something ridiculously fun—and maybe just a little magical—about sitting around a table with a bundle of broomcorn, a handle gathered from the farm, ribbons, botanicals and bits of treasure... and watching your broom become entirely your own.

Some are wild.
Some are beautiful.
Some are wonderfully crooked.
And no two ever seem to look alike.

Our signature Farm to Spell broom-making experience returns this October, and your broom and basic embellishments are included with your Gathering Pass.

Will you answer the call? 🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂

It's quiet on the farm at night.

Moonlight, crickets, the serenity of an evening full of stars.

It's noticing those moments in our life when we are quiet that we learn to remember and reflect the why's of the universe and our place in it.

Nature surrounds us no matter where we are but there is something special about the quiet country moments. 💙

We were not meant to spend our entire lives indoors.

Being in nature surrounded by beauty is priceless. Have you ever wondered where time went? How it flew? I can guarantee sitting by a creek surrounded by nature sure is a way to make time slow down so you can enjoy those moments. 🍃

Happy Sunday and may your moments of presence bring you peace.

This is a VERY serious question.

Who wants to come to Wine in the Creek in September?? I've got the last weekend open and can host this most popular event in the late afternoon on Saturday September 26th.

It's really fun and it won't be so dang hot. Wine tasting, charcuterie cups, sweets and a relaxing time on Little Sugar Creek.

Let me know in the comments and I'll make it happen. Look at these smiling faces from previous wine in the creek events!🍷🍾🍇

Weddings...

This was one for the books. The bride, gorgeous. The groom handsome and personality out the front door.

The vibe. Vintage chic. The food and cakes! The cakes.. not only beautiful but perfectly concocted culinary delights.

A little rustic.
A little bohemian.
A little wild around the edges.
And rooted in a place with a story.

Rustic. Heritage. Bohemian. Completely your own. Weddings on the Little Sugar Farm.

Your story awaits!

It might be hard to comprehend but these bushes in front of the farmhouse were but wee things decades ago.

Right when we turned the Little Sugar Farmhouse into a vacation rental a huge, giant oak tree that stood right where the rocks were to the left in this picture laid itself right across the driveway.

I miss that tree, the tree that so many of our ancestors sat under in the shade while watching kids, relatives and friends come and go. I remember us setting off little fireworks under that tree, those snakes on the sidewalk that made the concrete turn black. The spinners that freaked out our grandmother and her sister because they had that whistle sound, they went running trying not to have those little fireworks hit their legs.

Funny thing is I don't remember my grandparents sitting out on that porch as much as people do now when they visit. Junie and Pawpaw were on the deck a lot, they worked so much that by the time evening came they had dinner and relaxed with a show on the tv and news.

Life was so simple back then. My favorite thing over these last years to be honest is driving by seeing our guests sit on this front porch and wave as we go by and our guests actually remember the simple ways of just porch sitting.

Life in the country where time does slow down. 🍃

Movement is so important. One of the biggest focuses on wellness retreats is movement.

Our gathering spaces on our upper deck, deckhouse and giant barns have been locations for many yoga classes, breath work and sound bowl experiences. Connecting to nature and to the body by these practices in an environment attuned to peace and connection has been one of the experiences we're known for because we are a safe place to just be. 💙
