Sweet summer in the Adirondacks! School may have started but there is still plenty of summer fun to be had in September. Enjoy the last few weeks of warm weather as we prepare for the incredible fall foliage.

Evenings are getting cooler, the leaves are getting just a little yellow and the grass is not growing quite as fast. While there is still a bit of summer left in the Adirondacks, fall will be upon us very soon. Can you smell the apples, taste the pumpkin donuts and hear the crunch of colorful fall leaves on your hike to see the gorgeous fall colors? What a beautiful time to visit. Insider tip: weekdays are just as beautiful as weekends!

What books will you read this summer? Whether you are devouring your favorite romance novel, learning more about indigenous wisdom or perusing photos of other modern Aframes, we have the perfect spot (and a well stocked library). Sit on the back deck and listen to the birds as you turn your pages. Or snuggle up on the couch with a cozy blanket. You’ll leave your vacation actually feeling relaxed.

The Flume Trail system is just 15 minutes from and a short drive from Lake Placid. There are well maintained, easily accessible trails that lead to gorgeous waterfalls, streams and more. A wide flat trail from the parking lot on Route 86, takes you alongside the flume with a gorgeous view of Whiteface Mountain. From there mountain bikers or hikers can explore the remaining trails up to Bear Den and Flume K**b. Across 86 is a smaller parking lot that provides access to walking trails and swimming spots (once things warm up). A great spot with something for the whole family!

The spring thaw is in full effect. Rivers and streams are flowing and the snow is disappearing from the mountain tops. Even the off season is beautiful in the Adirondacks.
