🍂 Sometimes the best weekends are the ones you didn't fill with plans.

🍂 Maybe the lake isn't just for summer after all...

Fall is settling in at Grand Lake, and the next few months might be some of my favorite around The Golden Kettle Cottage.

Come for a quiet weekend tucked into the trees as the leaves change. Spend an afternoon wandering the shops around Grove, finding a cozy place for lunch, or picking out a few things you definitely didn't need. 😂 Then head back to the cottage, snuggle up around the fire and settle in for an evening with nowhere else you need to be.

And there are plenty of reasons to venture out, too.

🎃 Halloween festivities and fall events are coming up throughout October.

🎄 Then November and December bring Christmas open houses, holiday and vintage markets, local shopping, Christmas lights, Santa, parades and all those little-town-at-Christmas things that make a weekend away feel especially fun.

🎣 And for the anglers, Grand Lake will welcome the Bassmaster Team Championship in December.

The Golden Kettle Cottage makes a pretty perfect home base for all of it.

You can spend the day exploring and then come back to 1.6 wooded acres, lake views that get better as the leaves fall, a firepit outside, an electric fireplace inside, and enough quiet to actually feel like you got away.

🍂 This is the time of year when Golden Kettle Cottage makes it especially hard to sell.

The air gets cooler. The leaves start changing. The lake begins peeking through the trees a little more each week. Coffee moves back outside to the deck, and evenings belong around the fire.

And every time I’m there, I remember why I fell in love with this place.

It isn't because it has a dock or a boat slip—it doesn't. The cottage sits across the street from Grand Lake with beautiful seasonal lake views, and lake access is about ½ mile down the road.

What it has is nearly two wooded acres where you can have the lake nearby without giving up the trees, privacy and quiet.

That's always been the magic of this place for me.

I can sit on that deck, listen to the birds, watch the deer wander through and feel my whole body slow down. It's one of those places where God's creation is right in front of you, and somehow the things that felt so important an hour earlier don't seem quite as big anymore. ❤️

I know the next owner may not love Golden Kettle Cottage for all the same reasons I do.

🍂 I keep hearing some version of, “This is exactly what we’ve been looking for.” And honestly, I understand why.

But I also want to make sure I’m doing a good job of showing you what Golden Kettle Cottage really is.

This is not a waterfront property. There is no private dock or boat slip, and there is no direct lake access from the property. The cottage sits across the street from Grand Lake, with beautiful lake views that get even better as the leaves fall.

But what you DO get here is something that has always been much more important to me. ❤️

Nearly two wooded acres. Privacy. Trees filled with birds and wildlife. Coffee on the deck with the lake in the distance. Evenings around the fire. And a quiet that somehow makes all the noise in your head settle down.

For me, this has always been a place where I feel closer to God. Where I notice His creation instead of rushing past it. Where I pray, think, breathe and remember what actually matters.

There are certainly places on Grand Lake where you can walk out your back door and onto your boat.

Golden Kettle Cottage isn't that place.

It's the place you come back to when you're done with the boat. The place tucked into the trees where you can slow down, reconnect and simply be. 🍁

Today, I hope we all take a moment to pause and remember.

Pray for the families whose lives were forever changed—and for those who still carry the weight of that day.

So much changed on September 11th. Our country changed. Our sense of safety changed. Our world changed.

25 years later, may we never become too busy to remember, to honor, and to pray.

🍂 There’s a point every year when the lake starts to feel a little different.

The boats get fewer. The mornings get quieter. The evenings finally start cooling down. And slowly, all that green surrounding The Golden Kettle Cottage begins to change.

This is the season when I love our little 1.6 acres most.

You still get those beautiful warm Grand Lake days, but now they end with evenings around the firepit. The woods begin turning shades of gold and rust, and as the leaves thin, the lake that has been peeking through the trees all summer starts coming more and more into view. 🌅

It just feels peaceful.

The kind of place to bring a book you may actually get to read. Take the kayaks down to the water. Drink your coffee outside with nowhere you need to be. Watch for deer wandering through the trees. Make dinner, light the fire and stay outside a little longer.

You don't have to wait for summer to come back to have a reason to go to the lake.

🍂 Maybe what you're looking for isn't really a lake house.

Maybe you're looking for a place where you can finally exhale.

Where the first thing you hear in the morning is the birds in the trees. Where coffee tastes a little better on the deck. ☕ Where you can look out toward the lake through the trees, wander down to the fire pit as the evening cools off, and realize you haven't looked at the clock in hours.

That's Golden Kettle Cottage for me.

Life doesn't magically stop at the driveway. The responsibilities are still there. The to-do list will still be waiting. But somehow, when I'm there, it all gets a little quieter.

And as we move toward fall 🍁—when the leaves begin to change, the woods take on a whole new personality, and the Grand Lake views start opening up even more through the trees—I keep thinking there has to be someone out there looking for exactly this.

The cottage sits across the street from Grand Lake, so while there isn't direct lake access from the property, you get those beautiful water views along with something I love just as much: nearly two wooded acres of privacy and room to breathe.
