✨ A Midsummer Night’s Dream Lives On… ✨

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we’ve had to scale back our original plans for Saturday evening. While we won’t be hosting the full Masquerade Ball we had envisioned, we still couldn’t let a midsummer evening pass without a little magic.

Join us Saturday evening in Parlour No. 403 for a relaxed Midsummer Night’s Dream gathering.

🍝 Light bites & pasta salads

No formal agenda. No pressure. Just good company, a historic setting, and a chance to spend a magical summer evening together.

Some days are hard. Some days I’m exhausted from balancing a full-time job, running an inn, renovations, paperwork, cleaning rooms, answering messages, and wondering if we’re doing enough.

Then a guest leaves a review like this…

“This was our best Airbnb stay yet. The hosts were wonderful and made us feel like friends and not just guests. Beautiful home and loved the history. Definitely going back!”

And suddenly, my tank isn’t quite so empty anymore.

Captain’s Castle has never been about simply renting rooms. It’s about preserving a piece of history and sharing it with people who become part of its story.

Mike and I pour our hearts into this old house. Every room we restore, every flower we arrange, every tour we give, every conversation on the porch… we hope our guests leave feeling like they experienced something more than just a place to stay.

Knowing that’s exactly how Laura and Mitch felt reminds me why we started this journey in the first place.

So today, if you’re wondering whether the long hours, the hard work, and the leap of faith are worth it… The answer is yes.

🇺🇸✨ AMERICA’S 250TH BIRTHDAY IN JEFFERSON ✨🇺🇸

There’s no better place to celebrate Independence Day than a historic river town. There’s just something special about Independence Day in Jefferson.

Parades through historic downtown. Live music. Field Day for the kids. Ice cream, pie, fireworks, and small-town America at its finest. 🇺🇸

After a day exploring town, come back to Captain’s Castle, pour a drink, and settle into a rocking chair.

Parlour No. 403 will be open for guests and friends throughout the evening, and when the fireworks begin, we’ll head upstairs to one of our favorite spots in Jefferson… the balcony.

No crowds.
No parking headaches.
Just fireworks, good company, and a summer evening overlooking town.

⭐ Another Five-Star Stay at Captain’s Castle ⭐

There is something incredibly humbling about opening your home to strangers and watching them leave as friends.

We recently received this sweet review from a guest who stayed in Emily’s Parlor:

“We loved Sandi and Mike! They were so hospitable and kind. They went above and beyond with every little detail. I’m hoping that we get to stay again someday! 10/10 recommend.”

Reading words like these never gets old.

When Mike and I took a leap of faith on Captain’s Castle Historic Inn, we dreamed of creating more than just a place to sleep. We hoped to create a place where people felt welcomed, comfortable, and cared for, a home away from home.

Every fresh flower, every conversation on the porch, every recommendation for things to do in Jefferson, every late-night text answered… it’s all worth it when guests leave feeling this way.

Some stories feel as though they were written long before the couple ever arrived. 🌹🌻❤️

Yesterday, beneath the columns of Captain’s Castle Historic Inn, surrounded by candlelight, sunflowers, red roses, and the quiet romance of an old Southern home, Sheena & Eric began their forever.

Watching them stand on the front porch exchanging vows felt less like hosting a wedding and more like witnessing something that was always meant to happen. The soft afternoon light, the vintage dress, the intimate little reception afterward… it all felt like something out of a Southern fairytale.

What I didn’t know until this weekend was that Sheena & Eric’s very first getaway to Jefferson was actually here at Captain’s Castle Historic Inn. Somewhere between that first stay and yesterday’s vows, their story kept unfolding… and now Mike and I get to forever be a small part of it too.

I’ll say it again, this house has a way of bringing people together.
At Captain’s Castle, we don’t just host weddings. We witness love stories, laughter, happy tears, quiet moments, and memories that somehow become woven into the walls of this old home.
