June 1994 — The lights come on!
Shortly after the former hospital was purchased from Phelps Dodge Mining Co., electricity was restored to the building for what was likely the first time in almost 40 years. Can you imagine what it was like exploring the place without electricity?!

In the Jerome Grand Hotel there is an area known as the Ward. A seldom-seen part of the old hospital where time seems to have stood still. An area some employees refuse to enter because of a "certain feeling that's hard to explain". A little piece of the hotel that most visitors never see.
While the hotel continues to welcome guests as usual, the Ward remains off-limits to visitors. Plans are in place to eventually transform this unused space into several guest rooms with spectacular views of the Verde Valley. But for now, the Ward remains much as it has for decades.

🎨 Jerome Art Walk: The First Saturday of every month from 5:00–8:00 PM

Local businesses stay open late, showcasing the incredible work of our artists and makers, with live music at select locations.
Come wander the streets, browse the galleries, listen to the music, enjoy the crisp autumn air—and keep one eye open for anything that looks suspiciously transparent. 👀👻
