The Secret of Hiram
(To Die to Be Reborn)
Dear Brethren All:
In the sublime Degree of Master Mason, we live the most impactful and profound drama of Freemasonry: the death of the most perfect of all Masters, Hiram Abiff. An unmatched symbol of Light, extinguished by three assassins: Ignorance, Hypocrisy, and Ambition.
These are not external assassins; they are precisely the evil within us—that which we have not yet managed to uproot and which makes us suffer the sensualities of matter. It is that evil which prevents the communion between the Creator and the Created, causing the Master we all carry within to... die irremediably. This is why the Legend does not culminate in Death; it culminates in the unceasing search for the wrongdoers.
But their pursuit teaches us that Fiat Lux is not an isolated event at the beginning of the world, but an eternal cycle. The constant search for Light does not end with the defeat of one battle; we must push forward time and again, recognizing the eternal cycle of life. We live in an eternal duality, like the black and white tiles we step upon, where we, as beings enlightened by Reason, must walk the "middle way" and manifest beauty whenever we can and as our strength permits.
This is the Primordial Truth that lies within us, waiting to be revealed once the veil of illusion is lifted.
Every time we meet in Tenida (Lodge Session), we recreate this mystery. The columns are not mere decoration: they are the pillars of our Inner Temple, where Light confronts darkness once we pe*****te the Temple.
Today, my Brothers, the profane world cries out for Light, yet many prefer the shadows of materialism and vanity; selfishness has clouded the intellect.
Our mission becomes clear: to be the light for those living in darkness. Every man is a universe in all his complexity. In his internal chaos, the flash of Light is the order that arises when we apply the compass over the square. It is not enough to light a lamp in our Lodges and then extinguish it; we must carry it into the profane world where it is truly most needed.
How?
Mastering the ego (the final enemy, like the Nemean Lion).
Practicing fraternity (for Light multiplies when shared).
Studying and Meditating on the symbols (they are the keys that open the secret chambers of the Being).
Dear Brethren All, let the Light be Action and not just contemplation. Let this not become a word of the past, but a present mandate. In every gesture of honor, in every act of justice, in every sacrifice for our neighbor, we are saying in a silent way:
Let there be Light!
May our actions, like the chisels of the apprentices, sculpt a world where ignorance is defeated. May our lives, like the pyramids, be monuments to the eternal search for Truth.
May the Grand Architect enlighten us, strengthen us, and unite us in this Sacred Purpose!
