We're Hiring!!

Position open for a Seasonal Park Assistant.

Pay of $14 per hour and a maximum of 40 hours per week.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE: Maintains grounds and facilities primarily within parks including mowing and trimming of grass, trimming of trees or removal based on management needs. Trail and vegetation maintenance. Cleans and services, with appropriate supplies, restrooms and shelters.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession and maintenance of a valid Iowa Driver’s license
Must be 17 years old or older

Some people leave behind more than years of service—they leave behind a legacy.

After 23 years with Hamilton County Conservation, we celebrate the retirement of Lori Miller Westrum with hearts full of gratitude. Lori’s dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment have touched not only the parks and programs she helped shape, but also the countless people who have had the privilege of working alongside her.

Her passion for conservation has left a lasting mark on our organization, and while her daily presence will be deeply missed, we couldn’t be happier as she begins this next chapter.

We hope your retirement is filled with unforgettable adventures, peaceful mornings spent bird watching, afternoons in the garden, and, above all, precious moments making memories with your grandchildren. These are the moments you’ve worked so hard for, and we hope they bring you endless joy.

As the 4th of July approaches a reminder that all consumer and display type Fireworks are prohibited in the parks and properties.

There will be a public open house meeting on Sunday, June 28 from 5-7 pm at the Jewell Golf Course regarding the trail extension from Jewell to Little Wall Lake Park. This will be a come-and-go meeting where the public is welcome to learn more about the trail project. Staff from Hamilton County Conservation and the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation will be on hand to review maps and answer questions about the project. Hamilton County Conservation has already secured the property needed for trail construction through a state recreational trail grant and is getting ready to submit another grant for construction. Sample support letters will be available along with information about donation opportunities to meet the required match money for construction grants.
