Don’t miss out on the chance to experience the Big Boy! Union Pacific's famed Big Boy No. 4014, is the world's largest operating steam locomotive and is coming to the Pocono Mountains! 🚂

Pocono Biking is offering a chance to experience Big Boy without the headache of parking and navigating the crowds.

🗓️ Saturday, June 13th:
We will be offering a special BIG BOY VIEWING RETURN SHUTTLE! It departs our Jim Thorpe shop at 7:00 pm to take you back to your car in White Haven! This option allows you to stay out on the D&L Trail longer and capture this historic moment without the crowds.

🗓️ Sunday, June 14th:
We will be running a BIG BOY VIEWING MORNING SHUTTLE! It will DEPART our Jim Thorpe location at 8:00 am. Riders choosing the 15-mile route should have no issue reaching the viewing area in time to see the steam train roll by.

🗓️ Wednesday, July 1st
We will be running our 12 pm DEPARTING SHUTTLE out of our Jim Thorpe store so you can view THE BIG BOY while riding the trail. Riders choosing the 25 mile route should maintain a steady pace to arrive on time. Riders choosing the 15 mile route should have no issue reaching the viewing area in time.

The Pennsylvania Outdoor Corps has begun rehabilitation work on the Glen Onoko Falls Trail. For their safety and yours, please respect the trail closure. Overlook and Shortcut Trails remain open for the time being. The trail connecting up to Nine Mile Loop Road is also closed so please plan accordingly.

Winter Solstice light Hike

Hickory Run State Park will be hosting the Winter Solstice Light Hike this year!

Our wonderful staff and DCNR Conservation Volunteers will be setting up a ~1-mile trail through the Sand Spring Day Use Area picnic area, field, and pavilion. Count the mink you find along the way! Park near the pavilion and start there by checking in. We will have s'mores and cocoa! FREE!
