Kight's Eclipse Camping

Kight's Eclipse Camping Hi, We are providing 92 camp sites with amenities for rent. Tents/RV's & campers space are available August 16-22 '17 with a 3 day minimum. She left, he stayed.

Family & Pet friendly. Walt & Kathlyn Kight were high school sweethearts. He came to visit her in the John Day area 40 years ago. They married 3 years ago. Obviously she is back! They purchased a home with 42 acres and a mountain top 360 view and are willing to share with you for this once in a lifetime total eclipse. We are two miles south of John Day proper at 3200 feet elevation. Our area has t

he lowest cloud cover of any region in the path of totality and we have trees!!! There is an eclipse somewhere on earth about every 18 months. A total eclipse only happens every 375 years! We will experience approximately 2 minutes 1 second of totality without light pollution.

***The map on this page is correct. If your GPS takes you to Bumpy Road mail boxes continue on W. Bench Rd 1/4 mile more on right. There will be signs "Kight's". This is easy to find. 2 miles up W. Bench right. Campsites available August 16th-22nd. Three day/night minimum. Payment in full required at time of booking. Accepting Paypal, Visa, AMEX, MasterCard, Discover and Union Pay. TENTS=4 or less people = $80.00 per night, more than 4 people $100.00 night. RV's, Campers and Trailers under 32' =$175.00 per night
RV's, Campers and Trailers over 32"=$200.00 per night

It is the one year anniversary of the eclipse and Walt and I cannot express how glad we are that we decided to open our property to campers. Everyone was so courteous, grateful, happy and considerate (even when the outhouse guy didn't show up to empty every day as promised!!!) We will always have such great memories of our campers and the eclipse event. Thank you to everyone that shared this with us and to our family and friends that showed up to help (we would have been lost without you). We wish there was an eclipse here every year and we could do it again. I am desperately trying to download pictures to post on this sight and am having a difficult time with it, but have not given up so stay tuned! I even found a Taiko drum like the lovely lady played for us during the eclipse. I found it at a thrift store in Sisters, OR and am determined that it was waiting for me! Thank you again for being here and stay tuned for lots of pictures. Hugs to all and may you have another wonderful year!

The place seems so empty without our wonderful eclipse campers. As we have said several times we just hoped everyone was happy and didn't burn our place up. It turned out to be so much more! Such a great group of campers; polite, fun, helpful, interesting, on and on. John Day is considering having a music festival around the anniversary of the eclipse. Several people have requested a reunion! We have such a wonderful night sky especially on the hill. We will keep everyone posted if we decide to do something again. Thanks to everyone for being here!!!
