Most people who visit southern Utah in winter or early spring have no idea the Milky Way galactic core is not even visible during those months.
It sits below the horizon during dark hours from November through March. Beautiful skies still, but the full spread most people are imagining is not there. ๐
April through October is your window to see the Milky Way, and the best individual nights are the ones that fall closest to a new moon.
If you want to know exactly what the sky will look like when you come and what to look for, I have left something useful in the first comment. ๐
