Monsoon season is over, but apparently hurricane season is just getting started here in Southern Utah. Or should we say “Hurrikin” season? IYKYK 😅

With the remnants of Hurricane Rachel making their way across the Southwest, we’re getting our second (!!!) round of hurricane-related weather this year. Not exactly what you’d expect in the middle of the desert in a solidly landlocked state but hey, we aren’t complaining about the precipitation.

We’ll happily take the rain, dramatic skies, and rainbows here at camp. 🌈🤠⛺️

Good news from Zion National Park came in this weekend. Highway 9, the Zion Mount Carmel Highway has officially reopened after being closed due to rockfall in late September.

We’re incredibly thankful for the hard work of all the park staff to repair and reopen this important thoroughfare.

Here are a few of our Zion Mount Carmel hikes:

- Lower Pine Creek Waterfall

The fall vibes are just right around this little corner of the world. Perfect temps, ample sunshine, and pops of gold are beginning to show. 💛🤠⛺️

Our October weekends are filling in but we still have some availability the weekends of October 16th and 30th. Our season ends on November 8th, so come on down, stay a while, and soak up the sunshine during our favorite season.

One question we get all the time: “Where’s a good spot we can drive to for an epic sunset?” 😍☀️⛺️

We always stumble on this one, not because there aren’t incredible sunset spots all over the region, but because… you’re already here. You’ve already driven to one of the best places to watch the sun go down.

Grab a drink, settle in by your tent, and watch the whole sky light up from camp. No extra driving required.

Dark Sky season is still gracing us with its presence across the Southwest. Here at BaseCamp37, we’re proud to be a Friend of the Night Sky through Stellar Vista Observatory, our local dark sky conservancy and non-profit.

During peak season, the Milky Way’s bright, detailed core showcases our galaxy in the evening sky before it slips below the horizon for the winter. With very little light pollution out here at camp, you can see the Milky Way with the naked eye, along with thousands of stars, planets, constellations, satellites, and, if your timing is right, the occasional meteor streaking overhead.

The best part? No telescope required. Just turn off the lights, give your eyes a little time to adjust, and look up. ✨💫

The best views in Kanab are right here along the Arizona // Utah border 😍❤️⛺️

As shared by recent guest Steve, “So, so much more gratifying than staying in a McHotel. Wonderful property in a spectacular setting. Every imaginable detail taken care of. We only didn’t like that we could only stay one night!!!”

So, come stay away along the 37th parallel and let yourself immerse in the beauty of the high desert.
