Hey, folks, Happy Holidays! We are changing things up a bit for the new year, so here's what's going on. My father, for the sake of his health, has decided to move on to warmer climates. That means, since I already have a full time job, that I've had to put the place up for sale. We are still open, taking reservations, booking rooms and continuing to update some aspects of the rooms. For instance, I've put kitchenettes in rooms 5 and 10 to offer options to guests who may have extended stays (pictured below). Rooms 1 through 6 (in back) now have televisions! I am currently in the process of furnishing the first floor 2 bedroom apartment in the house to rent out as well. Unfortunately, we've had to raise the rates for this upcoming year due to taxes and utility rate increases. (don't even get me started on the multiple water increases) Standard nightly rates will go to $89.99 and the kitchenettes will be $99.99. Any guests who have requests for rooms on alumni weekend, I will be contacting you shortly to confirm your reservation details. It is very difficult for me to answer the phone while I'm at work, so please leave messages and I will return your call. Thank you all and Happy New Year!

This Sunday, June 25th -
Interpretive Hike – FORAGING FOR WILD EDIBLES

Join us for a special summer hike! This hike will be an Interpretive Hike with Melissa Sokulski, an expert that can teach us about mushrooms and other edibles and how to forage for them.

Melissa Sokulski is an acupuncturist, herbalist, and forager who lives in Pittsburgh, PA. She is the founder of Food Under Foot (http://foodunderfoot.blogspot.com), an educational website about using wild plants and mushrooms as food and medicine. She also published Food Under Foot Magazine, which is available on amazon as well as her patreon site (patreon.com/foodunderfoot.) Melissa also has the Food Under Foot podcast about wild edibles, which is free on iTunes. Melissa leads walks and workshops in Pittsburgh and around the area.

Our meeting time is 10 AM at the Minister Rd Trailhead, located on Minister Rd about 1.5 miles south of SR 2002 (Heart’s Content Rd) or 2.5 miles north of Rt 666, GPS coordinates N 41°39.320’ W 079° 09.080’.
We will do an out and back hike northeast on the NCT. It is about 3.5 miles to go to the rock city past the Lower Sheriff or 9 miles to get all the way to the Hunter Station Shelter. The length of the hike can be adjusted based on the desires of the participants and the time spent on learning about edibles.

Please come prepared for the hike dressed in appropriate layers for the weather, and carrying your own food and water. Friendly dogs are welcome. We hope to see you down the trail!

What a thrill to show Six&Kane to the Green Building Alliance, a long time friend and a valued relationship with an organization that works to create spaces that are as healthy for people as they are for the environment.

As part of that visit, we also learned that Kane has two Level 2 EV charging stations at the Kane Tourist Home & Motor Inn located at 80 Greeves Street. Way to go! ⚡️ 🚗
