Kcfop Lodge Kansas City Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #99. Proudly repping nearly 1400 men and women of the KCPD

05/25/2026

Today, many will celebrate the unofficial start of summer — pools opened, grills fired up, cold drinks in hand, and time spent with family and friends. But we know Memorial Day is more than a long weekend.

Memorial Day is a day we pause to remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Because of them, we are able to enjoy the freedoms so many of us often take for granted.

We remember the brave men and women who answered the call to serve, fully knowing the risks that came with defending this nation and the freedoms we hold dear. We also honor the families who carried that sacrifice alongside them: the spouses who endured long deployments, the children who grew up missing a parent, the parents who received the knock on the door no family should ever have to face, and the loved ones who continue carrying that loss every single day.

🇺🇸May we live lives worthy of their sacrifice and may we never forget the cost of freedom.🇺🇸

This week, the 156th EOC celebrates their 10 year anniversary with KCPD! Congratulations on reaching this big career milestone….only 17 years left 😉

In all seriousness, we appreciate the dedication, sacrifice, and hard work this class has given to the citizens of Kansas City over the last decade. From rookie year to now, you’ve helped make this department and this city stronger through your service, professionalism, and commitment to one another. Ten years down is something to be proud of, and we know there are many more accomplishments ahead for this group.

Do you have any photos from your class getting sworn in or graduating? Share them below and send a message of congratulations to those who are celebrating 10 years serving the citizens of Kansas City, MO!

Congratulations to those sergeants who earned a spot on the captain’s promotional list!

Your hard work, leadership, and dedication to this department have paid off, and Lodge 99 is proud to celebrate this achievement with you. Promotions like this don’t happen by accident — they come from years of sacrifice, experience, and putting in the work day after day.

KCPD is stronger because of leaders like you, and we know you’ll continue to represent this department with professionalism and integrity as you step into your new roles. All that to say… once you pin those captain bars on, we expect at least a 47% decrease in your ability to answer texts, a sudden obsession with meetings, and an immediate loss of all memory of what shift work feels like.

In all seriousness, congratulations to each and every one of you. We’re proud of you, we support you, and while you may technically be dead to us now… we’ll still save you a seat at the table…Probably.

Well deserved, future captains! 👏🚔

May holds special meaning for those who don the badge. It is a time to honor the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice and to remember the legacy they left behind.

The 120 names inscribed on the memorial outside KCPD headquarters are more than names etched in stone — they are forever etched in the hearts of every officer who continues to stand the line. Every officer who answers the call carries a piece of their legacy with them each day.

We carry the responsibility to honor their sacrifice, uphold their legacy, and never forget those who gave everything in service to others. We also pause to honor the families of our fallen brothers, whose strength and sacrifice deserve nothing less than our very best.

KC FOP Lodge 99 was honored to participate in the 39th Annual Missouri Fallen Officers Memorial Service this past weekend in Jefferson City.

Several of our members made the trip to stand in remembrance—attending a moving candlelight vigil Friday evening and the memorial service Saturday morning. These moments serve as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by those who have given everything in the line of duty.

We were especially impacted by the remarks shared by Governor Mike Kehoe and Attorney General Catherine Hanaway, who spoke about the importance of honoring our fallen officers not for the way they died, but for the way they lived. Their words highlighted a profound truth: while many take oaths throughout their careers, few take one that includes the willingness to lay down their life in service to others.

We will never forget the courage, dedication, and selflessness of our fallen brothers and sisters. Their legacy lives on in the work we continue to do each day.

Congratulations are in order for several of our members who were honored today with their 25-year service rings. These rings are more than just symbols—they are a modest tribute to a quarter century of unwavering dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to the citizens of Kansas City, Missouri.

For 25 years, these officers have answered the call—through long nights, hard calls, and countless acts of service—always putting their community first. Their professionalism, resilience, and sense of duty represent the very best of our department.

We thank them for their service, honor their achievement, and celebrate the legacy they continue to build each and every day. Congratulations on this well-earned milestone, here’s to a few more years 😉

A message from our 1st VP, Brandon Walker -

Join us today, April 28, from open to close at Minsky’s Pizza and help support the students at Guadalupe Centers High School! 20% of all proceeds will go directly toward their upcoming Miami, Florida trip — an opportunity these students earned through an application and interview process.

Every slice makes a difference. Whether you dine in, carry out, or order online, you’re helping these students take part in an experience they’ve worked hard to achieve.

Grab lunch, bring the family for dinner, or make it a pizza night — and support a great cause while you’re at it!

In honor of National Telecommunicators Week 2026, we asked some of our current and former communications staff about what drew them to this career, what keeps them going, and yes…even for a few funny anecdotes along the way. We’ll share some on our stories throughout the day, but we thought this one needed a permanent spot on our page!

One highlight we love - Denise Jones had the opportunity to step into the role of “Cell phone Sally” to teach children when and how to call 9-1-1 when they need help. It was a fun approach to a serious topic and it makes a lasting impact.

For reference, during the month of March 2026, the Kansas City, MO Police Department 9-1-1 system handled approximately 415,000 emergent and non-emergent calls for service (statistics provided by MARC). While the percentage of calls placed by children is not readily available, we know that children DO call 9-1-1 in emergencies. Making sure they know when to call, how to call, and what information to provide can make all the difference in dispatching the correct services to an emergency.

Thank you, dispatchers and call takers for being the steady voice during the critical moments and for serving with professionalism every day.
