It is the middle of the country and has to be boring, right? WRONG!

We are steeped in history and all kinds of culture. Here are some cool facts about the KC area you might not have known…

🌲 Kansas City was the start of many peoples journey westward.

🐭 Walt Disney had his first animation studio in KC, where a pet rodent became the inspiration for Mickey Mouse.

🎉 Kansas City largely ignored Prohibition laws, and continued to cater to gambling, jazz clubs and speakeasies. (Tom’s Town is a great place to learn more about this and get some house-distilled drinks!)

⛲ Known as the “City of Fountains,” only Rome is known to have more. You can see a lot of them on the free Streetcar that travels through downtown.

👗 Home to the world’s first planned suburban shopping center, the Country Club Plaza.

🍽️ KC has been serving world class BBQ since the early 1920s. No one does it quite like us!
